    In June of 2006 I decided to go to Bell Sympatico from shaw cable because I was tired of always losing my connection, and having my speeds go up and down like crazy.

    My contract included:
    -5 megabit connection
    -Unlimited bandwidth
    -24 month contract

    The speeds where rock solid, and not once did the connection go down. No problems what so ever.

    Come September 2007 I saw that my area now had a 7 megabit connection. I call them up and upgraded my plan, and made sure I would still have unlimited bandwidth. I was told yes.

    Last month I get a bill from bell worth $78.86. I called to see what had happened, and I was told that I went over my 60GB bandwidth limit and was charged $1.50/gb to the max of $30.00. I explained to him that I was told that I would have unlimited bandwidth. He said he understood and credited me the $30.00 plus taxes to my account. Again I asked if I had unlimited bandwidth, and he said yes.

    Fast forward a month, and I see that I was again charged $30.00 for going over my bandwidth. I called again, and I was told that they do not offer unlimited bandwidth anymore, but was willing to give me 30gb extra a month for 6 months. I declined saying that my contract said that I get unlimited bandwidth. They would not budge, so I canceled the service. I asked them to take off the $30.00 charge, but he said that I was stuck paying for it. I will be calling my credit card company to dispute that charge.

    I am now going with shaw cable.

    I will be getting 1 free month, 6 months at $29.99, then $42.99 till I cancel the service. With this I will be getting:
    10 megabit connection down, 1 mega bit up
    100 gb of bandwidth
    no contract.

    I hope you have better luck with Shaw then I have, then again our area (West of SSM) is still in Terayon modem land and Docsis2.0 isn't planned until the end of the year.

    I presently have 16meg from Bell and haven't spoken to 310-SURF once .

    Bell Direct folks do allot more then any 310-SURF can or will do in their lifetime.

    I just want to let you know I got my shaw internet today. A solid 10 megabit down, and 1 up. With speed boost I was getting upwards of 20 megabits. It was crazy.

    I was talking to the guy who installed the modem for me, and he said shaw is fully ready to handle 100 megabit connections right now.
