Well the techno weenys at Verizon have struck again. Their outbound email servers that service the NJ area has been hosed up for the last three weeks! I contacted them 6 times and was told everything from "the servers are being re-groomed" to "there is latency in the network" to "Oh your ping and trace routes are under 40 mils, it must be latency in the server". HELLO? I've been in Telco for 15 years, a network engineer for 10, and Director of Network Operations for my company for 5. Am certified on everything under the sun and I get this kind of BS from them. They even tried the old "there is a fiber cut that feeds the email server". My retort, why can I ping it then.... To which there was no answer. If your going to have your CSA'a lie, they should at least have some kind of clue to what's going on. Oh and by the way, their Presidential escalation is a load of crap. Nothing but a good stroking is what I received. One more tidbit, the supervisors have been telling people to use "smtp.covad.net" for outbound mail services. I'm sure Covad would like to hear that one!!! Anyone else in the NJ Metro area having email problems?
