I'd been waiting "forever" for DSL to come to my area. In or about November of 2003, it finally came to my CO (HTBOPAHB - Hatboro, PA).

Pre-Sales support was GREAT!!! The people I spoke with were very helpful, and answered all of my technical questions. I placed my order on December 31, 2003, and service was started on February 3, 2004...2 days early!!

The only real problem I still have is that my original provisioning (Loop Length) was 13,960 feet, and in the end, it turned out to be 17,700 feet. This keeps me, unfortunately, locked at the 768/128 level for now...until I can find out why my cable length is so long (I'm only 2.57 road miles from the CO...13,570 feet).

The other problem was DSL "white noise" on one particular phone and on my answering machine, which multiple filters would not cure. In the end, it turned out to be an issue with the particular phone. The answering machine died soon after, so that became a non-issue.

Post-Sales service has been a drag on a few occasions, depending on whom I get to speak with. But some techs were quite helpful, and knew when to get a higher level tech or engineer involved in the conversation.

    **UPDATE - September 8, 2004**

I was finally able to convince Presidential Appeals that my Loop Length was incorrect. It took 3 weeks of actual conversations with them, but at last (7 months later) I'm set back to my original (and correct) Loop Length of 14,000 feet, and now have the 1,500/384 service.

    YAY!!!

Sometimes all is takes is persistence, a bit of homework on your part, and patience (and sometimes a bit of luck too!!).

    **UPDATE - April 25, 2007**

    FiOS is coming (flyer arrives)!!!

Otherwise...nothing new to report here. My current connection rarely (if ever) drops, and the line stats have not changed since the upgrade (Downstream = ~58 dB Attenuation, 13 dB Margin).

    **UPDATE - May 31, 2007**

    FiOS install progress

May 16, 2007 - FiOS lines marked (white)
May 17, 2007 - Water lines marked (blue)

May 30, 2007 - Phone lines marked (orange)
May 31, 2007 - PECO lines marked (red - electric, yellow - gas)
    May 31, 2007 - "Ditch Witch" arrives

    **UPDATE - June 1, 2007**

June 1, 2007 - Sewer lines marked (green)

    The drilling begins!

    **UPDATE - June 22, 2007**

June 15, 2007 - Drilling begins in the cul-de-sac (main feed and one residence done).
June 21, 2007 - Drilling resumes (secondary feed done).
June 22, 2007 - Drilling completed, "flower pots" installed at each residence.

    **UPDATE - June 25, 2007**

June 25, 2007 - Main "tubs" installed, strings run...just waiting for the fiber now.

    **UPDATE - August 12, 2007**

I called up to change plans, and low and behold, Verizon bumped me to the 3,000/768 speed grade! Because of my Loop Length, I'm only getting 3,200/832...but I'll take that.

    **UPDATE - September 12, 2007**

Saw the Verizon guys out front last week. They said that the fiber has been installed, and that they are doing whatever splices need to be done. We are still not connected at the "pole" though.

    **UPDATE - November 11, 2007**

We are now spliced into the main trunk (10/28?). Hopefully, the service will be available here soon. My neighbor can't wait!
