    My Other Reviews·Verizon FIOS
    10/10/2006

It was a nice 6-year run but now over because I just upgraded to FIOS. I know some had problems with their service but it just about flawless here, I think I only loss the service two or three times within the 6 years I had it. The biggest problem I had was when I called for the price adjustment and they cut my upstream speed in half and it took over 3 weeks to get that resolved and the best was when I finally got speak to the who resolved it, it took him 5 minutes to correct it. so the technical support wasn’t all good but the uptime (for me) was unmatched.

    5/2005

    PRO’s

    · Good stable service, can’t recall the last outage

    · Price is decent @ $29.95

    CON’s

    · Rarely need it but first level Tech support sucks

    · Loop length increased from 9K to over 11K putting me out of range for the 3/768 tier, still can’t figure that one out

In conclusion VOL does a nice job with uptime. Again the only issue I’ve ever had is when I called for the $29.95 rate they cut my upstream from 384 to 128 and it took over 2 weeks and numerous call to VOL to get it resolved. it turned into a deal where Tech support was blaming billing and billing was blaming Tech support and then they were saying I didn’t quality for that upload speed. I think as long as you don’t have uncommon customer service issues VOL will serve you well, however Customer Service will flounder when something out of the ordinary pops up.........Anyway bring on the FIOS

8/20/2004 -It took just over 2 weeks to get my upload speed restored back to 384k. So looking at the overall service since becoming a VOL user in 2000 it has been very good with 100% uptime from my view. I started out at 640/90 @ $39.95 at and now I’m at $29.95 @ 1.5/384, so things are going in the right direction. I was pissed off about the FUSF Fee but with the latest discount the fee is a wash (but it’s still a scam). The Verizon business side relative to problem solving could be frustrating when there is a problem that I assume is unique such as the case with my upstream downgrade. I found out first hand that one call or fourteen calls may not be enough to resolve a customer issue, however once things are up and running the service itself has been very dependable, no problems whatsoever. I don’t know about other areas but I can’t remember the last time I’ve had any time of down time. If customer support didn’t flounder getting my upload resolved I would gladly given VOL a perfect rating, but since I had to call many times for the upstream issue and it had to be escalated beyond the normal channels I gave Tech support the low rating.
