Erie,Erie,PA $24 per month about 8 days Verizon (ex GTE) "Faster than dialup and cheaper then cable." "Phone tag, one hand does not know what the other is doing, poor follow up" "Only go through Verizon DSL if you have no other options available."
Pre Sales information: Install Co-ordination: Connection reliability: Tech Support: Services: Value for money: (ratings below consensus)
Connection is stable service unless it is raining then the connection drops in and out. This remains true to this day.
Good luck with the lower tier support staff as it appears Verizon is farming out their call center work offshore or just plain hiring employees whose second language is English. I do give them credit for trying to be helpful although frustration can easily set in on both ends rather quickly and I have had Verizon staff get noticeably agitated when asked to repeat or clarify something they said that was not understood.
If you are given a ticket number for repair you have to jump through the same voice prompts again. There is no direct number given by Verizon Tech Support to reach the Repair Supervisor which is just plain bad business and unacceptable for a communications company.
Maintenance Support knows there job but lack of information sharing among different support departments makes it look like one hand does not know what the other is doing.
Verizon needs to get with the program and get their staff up to speed as well as to what the various departments are doing as well as stop farming out their Customer Support. For an advance Communications Company Verizon tends to suffer from lack of communication. If Verizon is going to offer broadband over their ancient phone lines they need to put some money into upkeep of said lines.
