We had issues a couple months ago but they were resolved quickly. Otherwise, the connection has been fine. I am contemplating upgrading to 7.1 if it is available.

Verizon dropped their alt.* newsgroup support as of late. The connection has been stable with slight hiccups now and then.

The bandwidth dips at certain times. It gets annoying. Connection doesn't disconnect much if at all.

The connection has been unstable lately with spontaneous disconnects. The latency and bandwidth have been very satisfactory; newsgroup service has been awesome as well. I hope the instability subsides soon.

There was some connection instability during the summer, but Verizon fixed it. Pings are okay, and I'm getting the download rates (350 KB/s) I used to get from the usenet service. Verizon DSL service has been very satisfactory.

Verizon DSL has been very stable with no downtimes. I got switched to fastpath data rate so pings are lower than they were before. Newsgroup download rates have lowered from what I used to get. Overall I can say I'm content with the service.

DSL has been solid with no downtime. Bandwidth is greater than 80% advertised. Pings are high but this is expected since the line is interleaved. My first hop is around 52ms. I haven't bothered getting fastpath since March. Newsgroup service going great still. Overall I'm content with the service. Although the high pings are not good for online games.

I called to get the price change to $29.99 for the 3000/768 tier. Customer rep said I was on it already. The bandwidth has improved though it deteriorates a bit during peak hours. Otherwise, it is right where it should be. As for the latency, it has gotten worse because of the interleaved data path. I haven't had much luck getting it changed back to fast path. The newsgroup service is still great, and the connection hasn't gone down at all. Only complaint is the latency.

I ordered the 1500/384 tier at $29.99 a month. It took about eight days from order to live dsl. I had to call tech support since the dsl wasn't on at the SRD date. A Westell 2100 and dsl filters were part of the equipment package. The service is PPPoE even though I'm in a ex-GTE or Verizon West area which normally gets DHCP. The connect rates of the modem are 1664/448. I'm disappointed that they didn't give me the same connect rates as the ex-BA or Verizon East customers (1792/448) since I have the PPPoE overhead like they do. Not once in the two months have I reached at least 80% of my bandwidth in the two months of service. I find this weird since I'm under 3,000 ft from the CO according to a Verizon representative and I had more than 80% with an ISP that used Verizon lines before (768/128). It's not a problem with virii or spyware since I have a Linux box connected. It's also not the router since I connected the computer directly with modem and received the same results. I've checked the filters and signals at the modem. The noise margins are about what I should be getting due to the short distance, and they are the nearly the same as the dsl service before. The way I have everything setup is the same as when I dsl with my previous ISP. Despite the slow bandwidth speeds, I enjoy the service because it's faster than dial up and the service I had before and the newsgroups are excellent. The only disappointment is the slow bandwidth.
