Update: 2/12/2008: Late last year I signed up for price for life, which locks me into the lower pricing of $29.95 as long as I continue the contract. DSL has been extremely reliable. I've had downtime only twice in one year. Download speeds have gotten slightly better as of late. I now get 2850 down, 720 up. Good stuff.

I've been a Verizon DSL user for several years. I initially had the 1500/384 speed, which was automatically upgraded to 3000/768 a year later. My connection is very reliable, with only occasional rare drops. Testing shows my connection to be 2780 down, 710 up, very consistently. I received the 327W wireless gateway for free, after committing for a year. I use Yahoo mail, with the free Verizon 2 GB upgraded. I prefer their layout over the Verizon email option.
I did a test trial of Comcast 8/768 a few months ago. I canceled after one day. Speeds were very erratic, showing 4-5 megs down, which isn't bad, but definitely not close to the advertised 8 megabits down. Also, the up testing was around 600 up, which is not as good as DSL.
