Moved to a new home in a new location. First time ever dealing with Verizon and I expect the process of starting telephone and DSL service is no different than most. Had SWBell/AT&T DSL for many years prior to this. Contacted tech support by telephone after no DSL connection to modem several days after the start date. Stayed on the telephone with tier 2 support for well over an hour. After trying numerous things, tech determined that a truck roll would be necessary to address the problem. I have to give the guy credit in that he tried everything he could think of to avoid having to issue a repair order for a truck roll. As it turns out, there was an issue on their side and the problem was fixed. I didn't necessarily like that I had to take off work to meet the service technician, but that's life. So far, the speed (3 mbps/768 kbps) has been fairly consistent and the connection has been solid. Overall, I'm pleased with the service.
Update 4-25-07 - After eight months of having the 3000/784 package, I'd give Verizon an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I had one period where I was having download speed issues. I never did find out what caused the problem, but after about four days the problem was resolved. I'd like to have some more speed on the upload side, but who wouldn't? Overall, I'm still pleased with the service.
Updated 1-30-08 - Since I received a system IM to update my review, that's what I'm doing. Nothing has changed since my last update. I guess I could take that two ways. One, it's good that my service has been consistent with few, if any, issues. Two, it's bad that my service has been consistent with no speed upgrades. Supposedly, there is some fiber being installed in my immediate area, but there's no telling if it will ever see the light before I die, so it's not something for which I'm holding my breath. That's it for now. See you next time!
