This is an update to my original review since it seems the system has lost both my review of Verizon Online and Road Runner cable. I have both connected to a dual-WAN router as I need to have maximum Internet connectivity as my wife is going for her Master's degree and does a lot of research online as part of the program and I do a lot of Internet based research as well in working on my degree.
In 2000, I placed an order for DSL through Verizon Online (I am in an ex-GTE area) and that is when the fun began. Firdt I did not qualify because my loop length was too long. I knew in advance that was wrong as I had become friends with a tier 2 VADI tech (VADI, now called VASG, controlls network operations) had run a test on my line and said I was 14,020' to the CO and 10,275' to the RT which actually serves me. So after a very long back and forth where finally someone got involved who knew what they were doing I was at last able to get DSL at 1.5/384. Later got the 3/768 service when that became available. I will always be very appreciative for the person who stood up to the plate and took charge and saw that the customer got what he wanted and had ordered.
Except for some problems related to storms and a few equipment problems at the CO, my DSL has always been rock steady both in connection and speed. I am very pleased with the service.
