I've had Verizon DSL for around six years now. I got it a few weeks after it was put in my neighborhood. It didn't take them long to activate my DSL line, and service was good. Lately our speeds and connection reliability have been decreasing. I bought the 1.5Mbit/s down / 384Kbit/s up package for $27 I would of bought the 3Mbit/s down / 768Kbit/s up but they don't offer it in my town. Right now my modem connects at 1792Kbit/s down / 160Kbit/s up. I've called Verizon several times asking what the problem but, they don't seem to understand that it's not my computer that is being slow its their lines. I've even plugged my modem in the test jack on the outside of my house and got the same speeds, Line Attenuation. and Margin. Anyways if you want cheap high speed internet and don't mind having slightly less then listed speeds Verizon DSL is an ok choice.
Modem Model: Westell 2200, then a Westell 6100 in 2006 to current
Update 12/29/07: My service is still subpar and Verizon keeps saying my upload rate is what it should be (One tech support rep said my upload should be 1.5mbit and down should be 384kbit, I asked them if that wasn't backwards and they said no...) also the price has climbed up to $37 per month, I could get cable for $7 more.
Transceiver Stats: Down / Up DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1792 160 Margin (dB) 11.0 31.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 39.0 23.0 Transmit Power (dBm) 4.8 11.3
