I have had phone and DSL service for the past 4.5 years from Verizon and except for the occasional inherent disconnections and the reluctance to issue a refund for my first month of service (which was supposed to be free as advertised), I didn't have any major complaints.
Until I had to move from NY to Ohio. I was mentally preparing myself and knowing the a few days before the move I would be up to my neck in the problems of the move, I decided to call early (6/20) the companies that were providing phone, cable, internet and so on. Among them - Verizon.
The first contact was pleasant, I was assured that the disconnection would be in effect close to the requested date (10 days later: 6/30). Confirmation #D2NH3995. Of course, I can't remember the rep's first name which does not matter anyway. I get home and I can't connect anymore through the DSL. Another rep is telling me now that my account was cancelled right away. The guys from the tech department were OK and after 90 minutes wasted on the phone and 5 hours with no connection, I get my internet back up. But I am told that this will not last long, since the disconnection process cannot be stopped.
So today, 6/23 another rep from tech support gives me a call to confirm that the disconnection will be in effect tomorrow and that I will be given a few days of dial-up for free.
Now comes the funny part: when I am transferred to the billing dept, I am told that I will in fact be billed 24.99 for the first month of dial-up service. Any attempts to have a reasonable dialogue with the billing dept rep and her super were useless.
So let me ask you, am I angry for nothing?
I gave 1 star to "install coordination" and pre sales info to reflect the quality of the customer service.
