Over2 months ago I started having issues of losing connectivity of my verizon dsl. I would reset as they said and it would be fine, for a while. The one Sunday of all days, the modem would not reset and I got all red lights. SO I call in, they say push reset button and soon and further yakityyak, nothing works. they say buy a new modem but I have to wait til monday. I say nope, going to town to buy one and of course no one in town has one, not even radio shack. they say I have to get it from dsl provider directly. I come home very disgruntled, take old modem apart and plug it is. Viola it works. but intermittent connectivity issues continue. Next Sunday, same thing. DSL goes out. I call they INSIST it is the modem, so I drive 30 miles to a town that has a circuit city and but this fancy GT704WG for 100 bucks. And guess what? It did not resolve the issue. Now a month later, I even had my phone line dry looped and I STILL lose connectivity on and off all day long. Sundays are the worst of them all. I had line dry looped as I never use home phone and everytime I got an incoming call, I would lose connection as well, it was like dialup all over again. I have had verizon dsl her for well over 5 years, but never problems like this before....

I say it is in the wiring, they say no and wont come out and fix it. Must be nice for tech support online and phone to get paid and not do their job. All they can do is read off a premade sentence and push that button; they dont even know how to bypass the code = supervisor to get a person someone who can ACTUALLY help them with their problem

Phone was dry-looped; and I was provided numerous modems, tech were out almost every day and no one could resolve problem. Even dig crew said noting wrong until they FINALLY found bad wires at the junction box down the road... go figure...

(UPDATE) On Jan 15, 09, (0ver 8 months later...) the problem was finally resolved via dig crew; however, on April 9. 09, it stater ALL over again and no one here will even try to help me!

    My verizon solution

When you get disconnected pick up your telephone and listen for any type of static whatsoever. If you hear static or background noise or anything out of the ordinary, call Verizon and report noise on the line. They are legally obliged to come out and have a look. Chances are they won't be able to figure it out the firt time. I had a similar prob and I had do this 7 times before they finally sent a proper crew who found a faulty node in the central office. Ever since then, its been fine. Verizon usually doesn't want to replace expensive equipment for a little noise on the line because its not cost effective. You need to make it cost effective by being a persistent little complainer of noise on the line. Eventually they realize that you aren't going away without fixing the problem the way it should be fixed and do it right. Remember, stay cool, and be persistent.

    good greif

so, I call tier 3 about this. They say I have to start a new ticket; fine. They also through in comment that it is hte XBOX causing hte issue. Now, if it WERE the XBox, then WHY did it not continue to cause the problem after the dig crew finally found the correct faulty wiring? Why go fine three months no porblems and then all of a sudden start in again? No, it is the ground vermin and corrosion doing this... So anyhow, I call tier 1 and he confirms there is a problem with the wiring and will call me back within 2 hours with an appointment date, that was 12 hours ago.

I am seriously looking into other avenues of parties to file complaints about this provider and its monopoly on access in this area.

I also had a problem with DSL. I finally got it resolved by dropping the speed at which I was provisioned (from 1.5 to 768.) It seems that I am over 16,000 feet from the DSLAM, and the max distance is about 18,000. I now connect at 1.1, and it is rock solid. (It's also cheaper.)
