I got FastAccess ADSL with BellSouth in Jan. 18, 2001. I ordered it Jan. 11, 2001. BS(BellSouth) sent me a USB Modem (free), as well as 5 phone filters. I was hooked up and ready in less then 2 hours, had to call once, because I wasn't getting sync with the ADSL. Took them about 5 mintues to figure out what was wrong, just had to reset my line by removing everything off of it for about 10 minutes. I get a 1.5Mbps download, and 256Kbps upload, for $45.00 a month. I test my line on a regular basis, and usually get 1192 (1.2Mbps) download and 220 upload speeds. FastAccess ADSL comes with a dynamic IP, PPPoE. I recommend anyone who wants broadband to buy FastAccess ADSL, from BellSouth, if it is avilable in your area.
A few times (in one month's time) my ADSL became un-useable for about 2 days, they couldn't find out what was wrong with it, so they gave me credit for it, took off %50 of the $45.00.
(Two years later, still enjoy FastAccess. Thinking about ordering a 2nd line, with the NexLand Pro800 Router.)
(Third year, I have moved from BellSouth now. Cableone.net offers a speed that is faster, and avilable in my area. With speeds around 2900 kbps, I am happy.)
Well now I am back to AT&T now that they offer the 6Mb connection to my residence. Been online with it for a day, still need to iron out some things on the home wiring. Will probably end up rewiring the entire house and running a homerun to the dsl modem.
