    My Other Reviews·Comcast
I ordered the residential FastAccess service. the lady told me on the phone that the self install kit would take about 2 - 3 weeks to arrive. it took only 5 days to arrive- great. tried to install and had some problems. called the help desk and they helped get me set up and on my way. great?? not really. it kept losing sync about every 10 minutes. stuck with it about a week and kept getting the same thing. OK so lets call the help desk again. did what they said and got my sync lasting longer. so now we are good to go. wrong! about 3 days later we are right back at losing sync. called help desk again went through their routine and got the sync back. here we go surfing again. uh oh lost sync again. ok one more time. YEEEHHHAAAAAWWWWWWW. We have sync, we have speed, and we are happy. Been happy ever since. Recommend Bellsouth if its available where you are.

2/19/2003 Been doing fairly well with Bellsouth Fast Access. They have been having a fair amount of trouble right now due to upgrades they are performing. But I am feeling pretty good about them. My father also signed up with them at his house. We have not had alot of troubles but a few bugs here and there. Overall still satisfied and will stay with them.

9/19/2003 Well I guess all good things come to an end. My speeds have been gone to shit for a while now and to no avail. I had them come out to do a home run, and after they left I had my speeds for about 2 days then poof they was gone. Oh well the good news is that on 9/18 I received a letter from Comcast that said Comcast HSI would be in my area no later than Nov. 1, 2003 so I am gonna give that a try.

12/12/2003 OK here is a new review. I kept an eye on the Comcast forum for a while and noticed people was getting suspension letters for DL/UL too much. I have never received one letter from Bellsouth on this. And my BSFA speeds are great now. I would like to see the 3megs down mentioned over in the BS forum though. Also, the problem with my speeds seems to have been a bad power supply in my computer so the problem was on my end not Bellsouth's end. Soon as I replaced the power supply in my computer my speeds instantly went up to 1232 down 216 up and I am happy. I will continue to update this area with any future changes and news.

10/2008 Well, due to economic times, I have switched to Comcast for their triple play option. Its cheaper and so far its been as reliable as BS/ATT. My main reason for the switch was because I could not get ATT Uverse in my area. I live in a small rural area so it will be a while before ATT-U is in my area due to ROI. I understand that terminology and I am cool with their stance, but I hope that they understand my position.

If your looking a for a reliable connection and not so much concerned about bundles, then give ATT a try.

    Definitely worth the value

I got the AT&T Naked DSL service. It is great. No phone line, only one price to pay, no deposit, and they are paying for the modem with a rebate check to me.

Installed, the modem itself reports an 8.2Mbps downstream and 512kbps upstream connection - actually 2Mbps faster down than reported. No complaints here.

AT&T is having some hard times internally right now. The lack of communication between AT&T and the consumer is where I complain about, AND the AWFUL way they have you install the modem too. You HAVE to use their WINDOWS BASED, IE SOFTWARE in order to set up an AT&T account for the DSL to work. And they also changed the installation date on me without my knowledge.

Those problems aside, the line technician was top notch, figured out all my wiring problems like a pro, and when I plugged everything in, it all worked on the first shot (after a few hours on the phone getting the DSL activated).
