Received a bulk circular in mail. Called them up, and the salesman was friendly and not on drugs. We spoke about the features a bit, and then told me what it would
cost. I balked at the $50 start-up fee, and he waived it right then & there (VERY nice). I signed up, had the modem & all goodies within 2 weeks (actually was delivered on the date he specified). After getting all the filters installed, I powered up the system and waited for the modem to connect. After waiting about 10 minutes, triple-checking my filters, etc., I called tech support to run a check. After some disconnects, I found out that my line wasn't activated at the 'box' and a
field tech would have to go connect it. 2 days later, I was up & running without further incident. I'm running Win98se, 500mHz P3, 384mb RAM, Linksys NIC & router, a software firewall, and the Westell Wirespeed modem that BellSouth sent. Every time I run a speed test, my upload speed is well over 300 (384 is best I've seen) and the standard advertised speed is of course 256! I'm very happy, and I can't wait to fine tune it for max performace through DSL Reports.
