    I'm a DTV refugee and decided to go with my last mile provider. My speeds are consistent 1220+ / 215+ with a first hop ping of -10ms. Ordered the service on Dec Dec 17th and was up and running on the 23rd. The Westell modem arrived at the local UPS on Friday but they didn't deliver until Monday - otherwise I would have been up sooner. It's PPPoE but my IP hasn't changed yet (probably will change if there is a power outage or a modem reboot causing a renegotiation of the line).

    A real positive: BellSouth techs are regular contributors to the BellSouth forum here. Excellent source of information and help.

    AT&T formerly Bellsouth continues to provide excellent service. I can't remember the last time I had an outage. Even with electricity down for 7 weeks after Katrina, the telephone and DSL line continued working.

    Good price 27.95 with bundled services.

    Once again though the power was out and cox cable was out, the phone line (and DSL) still worked after Hurricane Gustav.
