my bizarre bellsouth experience started when just the phone line was first connected (no internet)...and the tech connected me to the grocery store on the corner...

connected to dsl 1.5mb in 2003...thought it was ok at first but as time passed it seemed too slow for me so jumped to 3.0mb (3000/384) feb 2006...worked great for about 4 weeks the started getting dropped connections, slow speeds(less than 1 mb), thousands of crc errors (or like over forty thousand in 24 hours)...and not getting the benefits of a fast connection...for the last 6 months have spent hours troubleshooting...and dozens of service calls...I am leaving out the details of all the wiring issues on the bellsouth side that were repaired/replaced during all this and all the "bad ports" I was on...and 3 modems/2 routers...new ethernet cables...and static IP address...etc...

as of aug 30 have another new modem, another new potts splitter, another new cat5e dedicated line to new modem jack and new drop line....still have the same old problems...2 weeks ago another service call after 3 days of download speeds less than 800 on a 3000 rated dsl line...no problems with the house wiring...had the service tech connect his laptop in the interface box and he gets the same slow speeds...Bellsouth has now discovered they "have a problem in our network" and the connection is better but still has problems

the GOOD...I found BBR....I learned to navigate bellsouth tech support and I got a crash course in network connections and troubleshooting...learned to use some handy things like tracert...and got some of the best tech support and tech service from bellsouth ever...including no charge for dsl one month, credit for all the over-the-limit dialup usage and a free wireless modem/router...and tech support would call me

the BAD...I had to spend all that time learning this stuff...but then I couldn't get streaming media or play games and surf the net very well anyway

the UGLY...I also got a really bad service tech from bellsouth and had to reformat and have another service tech come fix his mistakes...

for 9.95 this would be a good value for the money

my bottom line is...gave up on Bellsouth....changing to Cox cable and hoping for the best

my advice...if you have Bellsouth...read the FAQ's for Bellsouth on BBR and be informed so you can do your own troubleshooting...
