I just recently relocated to Alabama from Michigan where I had AT&T dry DSL. I wanted to transfer my service from one state to another with AT&T but couldn't. I tried to set up a new account for dry DSL with Bellsouth and they wouldn't let me the first time since I was required to pay a deposit and the lady stated they couldn't offer dry DSL to people needing deposits.

So I get Charter which is at about dial-up speed for download in my apartment complex due to a fire in a neighboring building and Charter jerry-rigging the cable for the complex after that (my neighbor across the hall is a Charter line technician). After finally getting frustrated with not being able to do basic stuff like watch Youtube or CNN videos, I tried AT&T/Bellsouth a couple weeks later. Fortunately, this rep was able to give me dry DSL with a deposit and since I had a recent AT&T modem I didn't need another. She gave me my account info over the phone and tried for the hell of it to see if it worked when I got home the next day and the DSL light synced right away and I put in the info into the modem that I was given and I was up and going in less than a few minutes. SO far, so good! I can finally stream videos and download stuff.

I have the 1.5mbit/256kbit package for $32.95 a month plus $5 a month for a dryline which I can live with especially Charter was going to be $59.99 a month once the promotional price resets.

I was upset I couldn't get dry DSL right away but now that I have it, I'm a happy camper.
