24 April 2009: DSL download speeds have been tanking during late afternoon & evenings (2.8-3.1 MEG), QoS checks indicate AT&T has some problems. I made the mistake of swapping to the new Yahoo/ATT home page & mail servers, a less than satisfactory experience. Not sure how many e-mails didn't make it through to my outlook, was not able to get any response from customer service; link to AT&T CS chat service didn't work, e-mails to CS unanswered.
2 January 2009: Modem started acting up in early December (dropping connections). Called in to AT&T, huge bucket truck arrived the same day - line tested okay. The tech replaced my modem on the spot, haven't had any problems since. 6 MEG is always at or very close to 6 MEG, no throttling or unexplainable slowdowns during peak hours.
20 June 2008: Well - DSL Extreme 6.0 now available in our area. So now I'm on the 6 MEG plan and yet to see less than 5.9 download speeds even during peak usage times. Sorry - I tried to get the speed tests I've done as I've gone through the upgrades in sequential order by date, but couldn't.
4 April 2008: Another month has come and gone, can't say anything but good for AT&T's DSL service. The 3 MEG service is great, no latency, speeds as advertised - always.
7 March 2008: It's been a month since I signed on with Bellsouth, no dropouts, no latency problems. Sure am happy that HughesNet performed so bad that I swapped over. Bellsouth has now made DSL Extreme service available in our area -so I upgraded last night.
I signed up for the Fast Access Ultra Service (1.5/256), the fastest service we have available in our area. So far speeds I'm getting are close to what was advertised with minimal latency. Haven't noticed drops in speeds during peak hours.
