Let's start from when we first got their service-- that's when it first became available in our area. My neighbors and I fought months to get them to allow DSL to be provided in our area. We were stuck with dialup before that. Also, due to the area we are in, (rural) only AT&T/Bellsouth guaranteed service here. Satellite was considered very often by us, but we didn't accept the fact of how much it cost just to have it installed/keeping it active. Therefore, we waited. Anyways, the day they allowed DSL to be purchased, we were up and running with DSL 4 days from the initial order.

As the months and year passed, Hurricane Rita came and hit us, destroying our house. Additionally, due to no phone service, I could not setup a makeshift DSL service line to attempt to access it.

As the month progressed, we were given a FEMA camper to live in for the time being. We called AT&T/Bellsouth to come and hook up the camper with phone and Internet services. It took them a week (at least) to come out and install everything. Some issues arose.. mostly due to our poor line quality at the time.. but they were resolved quickly by AT&T/Bellsouth. After that, we ran DSL with no issues at all, but we did attempt to get Fastaccess 6.0, but it was not allowed in the area due to the line quality.

Finally, we got a new house and had AT&T/Bellsouth come back and install a new line system yet again. They didn't charge us anything for wiring or installing whatever needed to be installed, due to the hurricane. Anyways, this time it took 4 days for them to come and install, but it worked right after he finished the job. I was up and running with DSL yet again, however, we again tried 6.0, but we reached the limit for the area (5.4 mbps down, 433 kbps up), which caused DSL sync to be lost once we reached that limit. Therefore, we are now straying away from those speeds.

In all, AT&T/Bellsouth did a fantastic job as we were a customer. We made it harder for them than how hard they made it for us. AT&T/Bellsouth has been our best phone/Internet/long distance provider, and it'll stay that way for a long time from now.

    Quick fact about our service:
    - Our maximum speed package is Fastaccess 3.0, due to line quality.
    - We have a Westell (black) modem.
    - We had AT&T/Bellsouth come and reinstall service three times now.
    - Overall, the order process was great.. I used their online system, not phone system.
    - We pay $37.95, which includes a discount for bundling. (regular is $42.95)
    - Earthlink is the only other DSL provider for our area.
