I've been a customer of AT&T DSL (formerly Bellsouth Fast Access) for years now. I've steadily been impressed by the service. I've had very few issues, and the few issues I have had, technical support has been able to resolve the problem in a timely manner. The service has always been steadily available with few downtimes. The only time the connection has been down has been when there is a regional outage. Even then, however, the problem is quickly resolved.

The few issues I have had pertain to hardware and billing. I've gone through four modems since being with AT&T. The first modem, an old Westell 2200 lasted the longest and was still in good condition when a AT&T technician upgraded me to a Netopia modem during a regular service call. The Netopia modem was fried during a thunderstorm a year or so later, and AT&T provided me with a Motorola 2210 afterwards. The 2210 had constant sync issues and eventually overheated. AT&T then shipped a 2Wire 2701 HG-B gateway. I'm currently experiencing some issues pertaining to maintaining the internet connection, but I believe this will be resolved soon.

The billing department could use some work as well. I've always paid my bill on time, but three times since having the service, the department did not properly document my payment and shut off my service. Instead of just placing a type of hold on my internet, they completely cancel the service, and you have to go through the hassle of signing up for DSL again and waiting for your connection to be established. The last time I waited three weeks for my service to be established. Fortunately, AT&T did not charge me for that time period and gave me another month's credit for the incident. These incidents were roughly three or four years ago, though, and I haven't had any problems since then.

I'm currently on Xtreme 3.0. I may upgrade to 6.0 in the future, but for now, 3.0 suffices for everything I need to do online. I'm very satisfied with my service and would recommend AT&T DSL to anyone in AT&T's footprint.
