Im in the far N-NW Chicago burbs. DSL from ATT is still the best deal in town, with rock solid service. Forum support here at DSLR is a big plus, they just get it done.
Ive got a 6M line off an RT that gives me 5200 consistently, and love it. Havent seen an outage in months. Price is OK too, about 39/month, and no contract, although if you want one, its available at the same locked in price for a year.
Last Fall, I was told by friends and neighbors that the RT's in this area are tapped out, no more room. That seems to be not the case now, because a neighbor just got her kit.
We dont have U-Verse yet, but I can hardly wait. Its around the area, just not in Huntley yet.
The only thing I'm not crazy about is that my DSL services are tied to Yahoo. Im getting less and less satisfaction from using Yahoo based tools (Music Launchcast internal to the Yahoo messenger, as an example for one of them) and support is nonexistant for yahoo tools. When I get an error, I search for it on their web pages and mostly come up with worthless info. But I guess that as long as I stay away from Yahoo, and use the Yahoo web-based email sparingly, Im OK .
Now its time to jump on my soapbox: Comcast, I hope that you eventually learn that thru your deceptive ads and failure to deliver what is stated, you are just digging yourself into a hole. Some people, who readily admit to not knowing anything technical, are actually starting to believe that they should be able get a super liquid out of the cable!!!! You prey on the unknowing, and as soon as they learn, they leave. Go back to just offering cable TV, its seem to be the only thing that you cant screw up! And save us all the mailings that we get every 3 days, (I wonder how much our bills would drop if they stopped the mailings????? It kinda reminds me of AOL CD's and look where they are today....makes you wonder.)
