Been with Ameritech/SBC/AT&T since 2001. Started with a 768kb, $49/mo account and now am at 3Mb, $24/mo account.
Regular customer service stinks, but if you can get the direct number to DSL support, those guys know what they're doing and are willing to help.
It took me 3 tries to get AT&T to help figure out why my S/N and attenuation were so bad. They finally sent a tech who would talk to me, and showed me that, even though I'm less than half a mile from the CO, my line snakes over a 1.5 mile distance before it gets to my house. He installed a line splitter and wired a home run (using 2nd pair) for free.
(update) Since installing the line splitter, our service has been rather rock solid.
Overall, not too bad.
