I already have a 1.5/384 static Speakeasy/Covad line, but when I found that Ameritech was doing 786/128 dynamic for $30, I figured what the hay. Bought a Nexland router and I'm off to the races !! Pre-sales was goofy as that no one had a difinitve answer as to weather my co was live yet. Finnally found someone, and apparently it had just been activated, so I'll cut them slack as to not having all their computers up to date. If your looking for Ameritech service, be sure to call and not to rely on the web site.
Speeds are good. Pings are good, although I'm not a gamer. No outages as of yet, but then again it's only been a month. It seems from other reviews and such that Ameritech is either really good or really bad. I've had a good experiance so far.
The only really bad thing is the PPPoE. But with a router to keep the connection alive, it"s not as bad as it could be.
3/9/04 Update
Just upgraded to the 1.5~3.0 (actually 6.0 cap) service and getting 5.0/520 for $45/month. What can I say ... I've had SBC for over a year and a half, no outagages, no slow downs. It doesn't get any better than this !!

It's been awhile and still a solid connection.Only had a few hours down time since last report, and it was a city wide outage from a vendor messing up a router upgrade in Chicago, So I can't hold that to the now ATT. It could happen to anyone. With the talk of LightSpeed being started it will be interesting if they bypass that and run FTTH instead. Would be nice, but it'll never happen here though. Right now the only thing to improve my connection is "Elite", it would only increase my upload to 768 and reduce the price to $27/month. I'll wait till the rush dies down.
Not much else to say, other than that ATT is the greatest. Long live ATT and the techs in the "Fun House" !!!
