12/31/05 - I left SBC for cable as I could get faster speeds with cable but will have to say SBC always treated me well I just was to far to get anything higher than 1.5/384.
11/19/04 I got to thinking, My old Speedstream 5320 is burried in a box somewhere, lets dig it out and try for sync Sure enough at 11pm I plugged in and got sync with the DSL DSLAM, I logged in via the "creator" account and went to the SBC REG site and created me an account Logged in with my user name /pass
Did a test at chi.speakeasy.net 1107/310 kbps
YAY ! We have a score! so far despite being about 11,000-13,000+ Feet from the CO I am having execlient DSL results ! Thanks to the Techs at SBC Direct for also answering questions! Cant beat that, DSL in like 2 days (was not to have it turned on until 11/23! )
11/17/04 I moved in June and had the "cable snake" for a few months, price was a little higher than I wanted to pay so I decided to order SBC DSL again ( I knew I was at a distance from CO but I figured hey why not give it a try! So i placed an order online, for 26.95 1.5/384, cant be that 42+ I was paying for Cable at 500kbps/300kbps!

06/01/04: Disconnected SBC DSL. (Due to moving soon to an un-DSL friendly area and $$$ Troubles) I just wanted to update to say thank you to ADSL Guy, BeachBoy, and Annonmoose here at DSL reports forums for their help over the years with DSL.. I had a fun ride, and truely enjoyed SBC's service.. No down times except durning scheduled maintance and totally rock solid service. Thanks again!!!
03/11/03: Wake up about 12pm and notice AIM had reconnected about 3 hours earler... Ran a Speed test here at DSL reports using »chi.speakeasy.net//
2003-03-11 12:17:54 Speed test (chi.speakeasy.net) 1276/225 kbps
Im rocking at new speed.. as you can tell my previous test at 5am I still had the 768/128 package.
2003-03-11 05:01:25 Speed test (chi.speakeasy.net) 640/115 kbps
as you can tell, much success in my service, big thanks go to Annonamoose and Beach Boy from SBC for their big help in helping me do this upgrade.
THANKS SBC for allowing TECHS to POST/HELP online!! This is a big advatange to your service!!!
03/05/03: Placed an order to upgrade to 1,5/256.... Talked with a few SBC officals here at DSL reports and received a telephone call and placed the order on 3/06/03 about 2pm. Yay.. turn up day scheduled for 3/13/03...
01/13/03:
I am overall impressed this first few months of my SBC/Yahoo (Ameritech) DSL.. Only one period of down time and that was because they where load balancing redbacks and doing maintance, beyond that no major issues as of yet.
11/04/02:
Having tons of problems with my Insight Road Runner Cable service with tons of outages/packetless/unanswered questions... so I decided to make the plunge...
Called on Wed Oct 30th to inqure about SBC/Ameritech/Yahoo DSL service, Talked to someone in Team Data (Business option) he was very nice, he answered my questions and did the quick Pre-qual on the service avail. He stated I was 11,200 ft from CO and that they could provide me with 768/128 kbps at 29.95 (the current yahoo special with free modem and 1 dynamic ip 1 year commitment) I told him I wasnt intersted but would call back if I had any further options. About 20 minutes later after consulting here (speaking with ADSL Guy and others in the forum/Funhouse) I decided to call back to Team data and place an order. Quick and painless process, I ordered the CSI kit, for Windows XP (no nic needed because I have a nic already) He explanned my turn up / due date was nov 7th and that he would have my CSI shipped out (even asked if I wanted it shiped to another address)
Monday Nov 4th: UPS nocked on my door and dropped off my CSI... about 2:00 pm I just ripped that box open , installed the filters on the two analog telephones and plugged Mr Speedstream 5360 in... fired it up, watched in amazement as the lights SYNCED to the DSLAM before the Due date (nov 7th)
I was like woot, sure enough its "synced" so i figured ill reboot XP and plug this sucka into my lappy to check for sure. I currently have cable so I rebooted my machine with the DSL modem plugged into the ethernet port. I logged into XP and ran the create a new connection and used XP's Built in PPPoE setup..
I opened the SBC kit (they dont give you that great of instructions i have to admit) so i plugged the ethernet into my lappy and found the "dsluser" registration logon (somewhere on an faq here) to logon and attempt a connection, sure enough it CONNECTED... (since I dont have an account and cant seem to find info on creating one) I did try the registeration but both that and the order tracking both say "no order for DSL at this #"
anyways to what is important to me :

looks like its speeding along (I thought A*tech ramped up DSL but I wont complain) ... I assume im getting pretty much near the 768/128 that I ordered at 11,200 ft from the CO (atech woudlnt let me order the 1.5/256 due to the new distant limits)
I want to give Atech a big big kudos for this speedly of service... I ordered Wed and its already turned up at 2:00 monday.. I hope this is a good sign of the things to come.
Speaking which, I want to give kudos to Asdl Guy, he has assisted me thru this process and even ran a check on my modem after I got it up and synced just to make sure my signal and levels looked good..
I am really pleased with the service even though its only been a few hours. Kudos to SBC for allowing tech's to navigate this forum and allow them to assist and help customers.. This is defently a plus, as I work in the tech support industry myself and know what a run around you can get sometimes dealing with various depts and how sometimes things arnt communciated well etc...
****Side note: Since I havent delt with tech support I gave them a 5 (cant rate something bad that ive not used.. Same with Mail/news/DNS.. I dont have my mail boxes setup yet so I cant really rate them as poor either****
