If the connection would ever get solid, it might not be a bad experience. Once (if ever) I have a good connection and don't loose it (as I did about half an hour ago for about 2 minutes), I plan on trying to upgrade. I was spoiled with DTV at 768 and SBC would only give 384 when I ordered.
Speedstream 5360 (-002) with Linksys BEFSR41 serving two Win98 PC's. Dynamic IP. Installation was simple. I don't use any of the software (connection manager, parental controls, etc). I let the router do the work. Connection is used primarily by the significant other for home business and VPN to primary job. No gaming (yet).

Just while typing this I dropped the connection and then got it back!

Connection has improved dramatically since installing a pots splitter (siecor) and home run to my router. I guess the connection problem was at least my fault for bad inside wiring. Supposed to get a speed upgrade (to 768 early next week - thanks to Beach Boy). Cost will change, but I do not mind.

Changed Tech Support to excellent. This is due to the great help given here on DSLR. Quick, courteous, knowledgeable. The best and that is a great reflection on SBC.

12/18/03: Renewed my one year contract with SBC. It was actually a pleasant experience and only took one transfer and about 5 minutes. Nice.

1/8/04: The renewal of service included a speed increase. I went from the old 768/160 to 1.5/256 (pretty sure those are the speeds). Another nice thing is that the cost went from 29.95 to 26.95 with another 1 year contract. Couldn't be (much) happier. Connection has been rock solid for months. One of the best things about SBC is the official techs and just plain knowledgeable people here on DSLR. I've learned a great deal from the people here just by lurking around the forums.

7/15/04: Time for my six month review update. All I can say is, flawless service. I've had zero problems with my connection and speed for the last six months.

3/29/05: I guess it's been too long since I updated. My connection has been solid now since I can't remember when. I recently got the price reduction (took 4 tries but persistance paid off) down to 19.95 per month. Just can't beat that. It's hard to believe that my speed has increased and the price has dropped since joining SBC. You'll get nothing but praise from me.

10/31/05: When things don't go wrong, you seldom if ever hear from a customer so I have nothing to report.

7/5/06: No change here. Great service, greater price. I'm paying somewhere around $14+/mo (plus fees) after the latest re-rate.

5/9/07: What can I say? I've had zero issues since my last review. Rates went up a bit, but for what I get I cannot complain.

3/19/08: Nothing much to see here. The connection has been steady and reliable enough for my needs. The price has/will increased, but it's still relatively cheap. In fact, I seldom even look at the internet portion of my AT&T bill. I should probably pay more attention to it...you know, watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves (or something like that).
