The first 2 or 3 years were great - I never understood why so many people hated Ameritech - I had 4.5MB DSL for ~$45, later downgraded to 3mbit @ $27 when it was introduced, and recently had 3mbit for only $17/mo.
The problem is that in the past 6 months, something bad seems to have happened to my phone line - after constant disconnects and outages, my sync was lowered to 2500/512, and after last nights four-hour outage, I decided to downgrade to 1500kbs.
I suspect that some idiot working for SBC munged things up and ruined my DSL experience, but who knows? Supposedly RT's are being introduced to Chicago proper, which will maybe alleviate some of these copper headaches.

On Feb 6, 2008 I called AT&T to request cancellation of all service. I was originally going to just drop voice and get naked DSL, but the recent announcement of the $5 price hike has soured me.
After being online for over 16 years, I'll now be unplugged!
