After many years of DSL with Mindspring/Covad, then a few years of Earthlink Cable via TW/RR, I'm back to DSL with Ameritech/SBC/AT&T. Paying $40+/month for cable internet or $30/month when they're willing to give a discount is just hard to do when my local telco inundates me with $12.99/month offers for DSL.... TW/RR kept raising their speeds but I didn't want faster and faster speed, I wanted stable, and hopefully lower cost, but they're not interested, so neither am I.
My DSL has been up and running for a little over a week now and in no way can I tell that I'm getting effectively half the speed (2500k after overhead vs solid 4800k with cable). It "feels" the same and that's good enough.
