"Fast turnup, static IP, no PPPoE"
"Verizon still monopolizes the last mile ... but that's not Acecape's fault"

After having been burned by the Northpoint collapse, I found myself looking for a new DSL provider. I placed orders with a few different providers, planning to accept the first one that got installed and cancel the rest.
Acecape came through. Even though Verizon Online insisted that I couldn't get service, Acecape (which uses Verizon's DSL carrier service) offered me 768/128 ADSL. I placed the order online, and as soon as it was checked out I got a reply e-mail with my install date.
I didn't order equipment, because a co-worker who recently cancelled Verizon Online service gave me his Westell DMT. I plugged it in and waited. The service went live a day early. Configuration was a snap, because Acecape provides static IP addresses and doesn't use that ghastly PPPoE stuff. One thing that I particularly like about Acecape is that they allow you to run servers, and they say so very clearly. Since I run a hobbyist BBS (just for fun), this is a big win.
The service is quite responsive, and the people at Acecape have been good about answering my questions quickly. This is a great service. Don't think twice about ordering it.
POST SCRIPT: three years later, I am still absolutely *delighted* with Acecape. The service has been totally solid. If you want DSL, go with Acecape. It's better than any other DSL provider. It's also better than the cable goons.
END GAME: it's now nearly eight years since I've had Ace, and I've been delighted with their service the entire time. It's been reliable, stable, fast, and the people there are an absolute dream to work with. A few years ago I ordered their VoIP service and it's great too. I'm sad to say that I'll be leaving Ace next week because I have ordered Verizon FiOS -- I needed a "triple play" bundle because the trees behind my house are so tall and thick now that I can't get DirecTV to work anymore. Ace resells FiOS but they are unable to offer it with the television service (and it really isn't their service anyway; they're just a reseller). Anyway, I've been a VERY HAPPY customer of Ace all these years, and will be sad to leave. Maybe after my triple play bundle expires in two years I'll switch my phone back to their VoIP service.
