Today AceDSL dumped me like a cheap ADSL ISP would. They never even tried to fix my problem. They still insist it's a problem at my end. If it is a problem at my end, how the hell I'm I supposed to know where it is and how to fix it. That's what tech support is for isn't it. Like I said they really SUCK. They wasted my time and money on this bullsh*t.
My AceDSL has been going down ever since I got it on the 12th of October. They charged me $115 for the first month when my monthly charge was supposed to be $69. So now I'm getting charged $115 this month for service I don't have. And what the hell is tech supports problem. They're asking all these damn questions about how my place is wired, accusing me of doing stuff to the line when I'm not, and that's supposedly my problem. And it really sucks when I call tech support everyday and get the same moron all the time getting mad that my service doesn't work. They're giving no reason why my DSL isn't working. Just the usual questions... how am I wiring the lines. How's this, how's that. What total bullsh*t. I'm getting 3 GREEN on all lights and I have total SYNC with the DSLAM. But no freakin' service. I've got 2 full days of service in 10 days and counting. AceDSL sucks the big one bigtime. ACE SUCKS!!!, it sucks, it sucks, it sucks. I'm holding a personal grudge with them. Got burned by Verizon before, and now Ace. They both suck.
I guess this is what I get for going back to ADSL from SDSL I subscribed for MegaPaths 256/256 SDSL (for $99 a month) service and had it for 7 months straight without any downtime, it never went out. It was flawless for the whole 7 months until Rhythms went bankrupt and they had to let me go. Life's a beach. I guess I'm gonna have to pay for business class service cause my luck aint to good with ADSL. Long live MegaPath, please let me know if you guys get some lines out here in Brooklyn again. I need reliable DSL service.
Still service comes on goes out. Bigtime problem going on. They swear its a problem on my side. The say my mac address is being blocked. I don't know how that works. This is such crap service. Tech support is the worst I ever experienced. I think there's like 2 tech support guys in the whole place. They need to get this fixed or I'm cancelling service. Does anybody know about mac addresses and how to get it right?... cause they sure don't.
Service started 10-12-01. It works great till I restart my PC. Service goes out for an hour or two every hour or two. Sounds funny right, wrong. When it does go out, the modem still has sync and the activity light is flashing like someones downloading something. But still no connection. When it's on it works very well. Ran numerous tests on different sites. Speeds seem to be the same whenever I connect. Speed purchased 384/384. Speeds tested 371+/374+ everytime I tested while it worked day or night. Ping time is excellent. Pinged great to all my gaming servers. Ran a video conference with no problems. I hope this issue goes away. Cause this is great DSL. This service almost feels like my old MegaPath/Rhythms SDSL line with 85% less reliability. Is this a valid enough review..?
I'm hearing of a routing problem too. So I guess when thats resolved maybe I can have some reliable service.

this is a gripe not a review.Since you don't have the service this is not a valid review. Come back after the service is install on the new one week later date. A valid gripe...but don't review what you don't have.

Re: this is a gripe not a review.i'm an acedsl user and i consider him lucky. acedsl's speed dropped to earthlink levels over the past few weeks.

Re: this is a gripe not a review. The speed drops aren't Earthlink levels nor have they been going on for a few weeks. We had speed problems for no more than 8 hours on the day of the Nimba whatever virus and nothing since. I get full 740/128, 24/7.

Re: this is a gripe not a review.lucky you.
acedsl told me that they have a routing problem upstream. the problem occurs between 11AM and the early evening hours. you might not have noticed it if you are not at home during this time.
it is a routing problem that would affect all of us. i don't know how you could be an exception.
acedsl recognized the issue and will resolve it within the next 2 to 3 weeks. i trust acedsl if they tell me that they have an issue. ... and i do experience problems.
best,

Re: Acedsl in Brooklyn down???i still have sync, but downloads time out and it takes forever to load web pages. the difference between using my acedsl line right now and having no connection at all is barely noticeable. did you page/call/e-mail them? i have the issue since quite some time now, usually during office hours. do you have an idea what could possibly take them a month to fix an "upstream routing problem"? i understand that technical problems can happen and i'm patient. i have to admit that i do not understand why acedsl sends out e-mail to all users about a short-term slowdown because of a virus, but they leave us in the dark about a big problem with their connection to the backbone? a problem that persists for several weeks? sometimes i fear they just did what most other providers did and oversold their bandwidth. they must have gotten a lot of new business with all the good reviews here on DSLR. oversold bandwidth is to a certain extent a "routing problem upstream" as well . and it might take them a little longer to acquire more bandwidth than the time it takes to resolve a "regular" routing problem. let me know how the situation with your line develops. adrian davidson

Re: Acedsl in Brooklyn down???Looks to me like there may be a router outage. When doing a VisualRoute, cannot get past hop 14. My service (384 - 384) was installed painlessly on October 10th. But fully lost service on October 13th. I have ordered and installed several Acedsl lines in Manhattan. Have to say that I have not had any problems with them over the past several months. Oders are processed ontime, and speed appears to be consistant. Just hope that my Brooklyn connection will be as realiable. Good thing I still have my IDSL account with another carrier

Re: Acedsl in Brooklyn down???for how long can in your experience a router outage last? hours? days? weeks? i hope they fix it soon.
i liked my acedsl service as much as you do. they were really great until the "routing issue" popped up.
here a copy of the e-mail i got. i hope it's OK to post it here. it's short:
"The problem should be resolved in 2 to 3 weeks. There is a bad route upstream from us going to Level3, we are working to replace it."
another 2 to 3 weeks of unreliable service. i don't like that at all. that makes a full month of lousy service.
ones again: why didn't they tell us?

Re: Acedsl in Brooklyn down???You may want to download the VisualRoute Shareware. You can then check the status of your service with a great visual mapp Here is the link » www.visualware.com/visua ··· dex.htmlI will keep you posted as to the what they tell me this week about my outage.

i get the same result you got: "Analysis: IP packets are being lost past network "Intellispace Inc." at hop 13. There is insufficient cached information to determine the next network at hop 14." i can still read my e-mail ... slowly though . let's hope acedsl informs us finally about what is going on and what to expect over the next few days (weeks?). good to know know i'm not the only one . i started to think my physical phone line would have a problem, which i assume would have been worse. are all nyc-customers experiencing this problem or is it just us in brooklyn? adrian

hi, my line is back to full speed this morning, a usual.
speed test result:
Test running.......... ** Speed 1487(down)/277(up) kbps ** (At least 29 times faster than a 56k modem) Finish.
i assume the speed will be great until 11am and then go back to "snail"-mode for the remaining day.
i'll post another speed test around noon,

AceDSL has a trouble ticket with Verizon. I had great speed until this past Saturday when I totally lost service. I guess I will see what happens as the week goes on.

MAC addressesI am very surprised by your problems with AceDSL. I've been using them for a while now and their service has been way above average for me. Coming from Telocity I feel that they (AceDSL) are providing an excellent service even though they do have small problems every once in a while.
As for the MAC addresses those are the hardware addresses of the NIC's. I keep hearing that AceDSL uses the first MAC address that connects to them as a default address and if you connect and other computers directly to your Westell bridge or you replace the bridge with a router, you need to call them and let them know or else they will block the new MAC address. Of course if you are running software or hardware NAT or Proxy from a server or router on your end, you can add as many computers as you want and they won't care as long as the NIC on the server or the router it self remains the same. The simplest way to see what's causing your problem is to do a tracert from a DOS prompt.
C:\>tracert acecape.com
If you get any * * * (asterisk) that's your problem.
Good luck [text was edited by author 2001-10-18 22:17:45]

It probably is wiringSometimes all my lights are Green on my modem and I cant surf, no activity on the line. Its usually caused by the jack being loose from the phone outlet. I would have your wiring checked before you go off Ace's tech support. Heh I almost did last friday when my speeds went to shit and they told me my line was fine. Come to find out a splitter on my line had went bad creating an artificial cap of 300kb. SO odds are it probably is your line if all your lights are green and you still cant surf.

Re: line speeds are iffyI'm also going to give Road Runner a try before I go back to SDSL. Them Ace people really suck. They told me I have a problem on my side and I don't want to admit it. Get the f*ck out my face with that bullsh*t!! Even though they cancelled my account, they were going get axed anyway while I tried Road Runner. They better waive off that $115 they charged me, or my ass is heading straight to their office. I'm only a couple of stops away on the subway. I checked my account today and nothing yet.

DON' T USE ACE DSL!!They have totally oversubscribed their lines and did not tell their customers even know they knew of the problem. Our line has been sub 56k for three weeks and the cheap bastards won't even reduce our monthly bill.
Tech support (answering machine) will blame you first, and are pushy and rude.
Generally, they are very abrasive and callous. don't be fooled by the postive reviews posted by their employees that sound like something out a sales manual - these guys are awful!
