    My Other Reviews·Packet8
I have had 1.5mb DSL from qwest for a year now. It has been great! I have never had an outage. Never had to call support, other than for my bloody password. Install software choked, but I didn't really need it to get going...

I can throw rocks at the CO from my backyard, so this may explain my lack of problems. But I also remember in the early days that being as close as I am to the CO would create its very own reliability issues...

If you are in a qwest service area, then you should go with qwest. You may have to deal with dumb sales people and a horrible billing department. But the HSI service you are getting in the end will be the best!

Update 11/8/07: qwest has gone to crap. they have severly oversold their bandwidth, or are up to some no good traffic shaping at night. my year contract is up and i think i will switch to a real ISP. you get what you pay for

Update 9/20/08: qwest was apparently suffering from some failed equipment, or bottlenecks at the time of my last update. this situation did last a view months, but the service has been rock solid since...

Think a Gazillion times before signing with Qworst

The worst of the DSL ISPs outthere. The CSRs blatantly lie about the pricing. The pricing for life is a one way contract. Only you are obligated to abide by it or pay 200$ fine. Qwest can hike up your prices at their leisure and you would still be bound by the contract. They have an ultra fanatic/obnoxious CSR supervisor that goes by the nick Josh-5108. He is there only to remind you that you are obligated but not qwest and your bills keep on going up every month. Buyers beware especially in Glendale/Phoeniz az area. I have their esteemed VDSL the picture is choppy and often see "signsl quality" error. If you encounter similar problems with qworst file a complaint with your local AG's office.

I find both the original poster and the user from Chandler's comments interesting but not reflective of my own experiences. I have Qwest DSL both in Phoenix and Newport, OR. The Phoenix connection has been running for several years without a problem. While I am unable to get above 3mb down, I consider the absolute dependability to be more important. And it does not slow down when everybody comes home from work.

The Oregon connection is new, and worked from the gitgo. After some line cleanup needed to fix voice, DSL got even better.

Yes the after hours tech support from offshore is sucky, but the business day support is solid and reliable. I try not to deal with their sales people by using on-line signup. That worked very well and even gave me choice of phone number.

From Qwest, I get unblocked ports, reasonable price for static IP and my Cisco routers are welcomed by the Dslams. Cable based ISPs offer none of this.
