A little history....when I first hooked up on cable in 2001 it was with @home. That lasted exactly two days and then the service went down due to differences. I then discovered WideOpenWest and their DSDN technology and IT ROCKED! I had amazing speeds IN BOTH downloads and uploads and at the time was one of the fastest ISP's in the US. But, DSDN technology was discontinued, WideOpenWest was sold and then re-emerged as Champion Broadband. Champion was recently bought out by Comcast. Comcast wanted to bump my access from around $30/month to $49/month.

Qwest offers a guarantee for life at $24.99 (recently raised to $26.99) so I am locked for now at 25/month. It's slow, the best login downlink speed I have seen is 832/KBs. If you figure maximum theoretical throughput versus Comcast at 6/mbs (theory) it is pricey and much more expensive in theory...but this was an issue of cashflow. Plus I am not a very big fan of Comcast (customer service issues though those were some years ago...they may have improved....I am not sure).

But that aside, it works, no issues, no outages.

    20080703 Update:

After some stability issues Qwest has now dropped my speeds to 256/256 with NO reduction in price saying "well at least you have internet service". Cancelled as soon as I could dial the business office. This is the Spirit of Service they claim? Its more like "take it or leave it, we've done all that we can".

The attitude of their tech support staff was what has really got my blood boiling....what ever happened to "serve the customer"?
