Before Qwest I had Comcast. I don't want to explain why I switched again since I already have a lengthy review of why I will never use it again.
When I signed for Qwest I was worried about speed, support quality and reliability. The important things right? They exceeded my expectation in most areas. The install was a snap, but I had one problem off the bat that really made me nervous. The first few days I had dsl the connection would slow down and the modem would disconnect and reconnect at different speeds. It would drop completely between the time of 6-10. I was also not connecting as fast as I should have been. After my problems with comcast I thought oh great here we go again and this house must be cursed. I called up tech support and they couldn't fix it over the phone, but said they would send out a tech to take a look. I was happy to find out the techs they hire at Qwest actually are knowledgeable and want to fix a problem. The tech even gave me his card when he left to call him if the problem continued. You cant get anything like that from Comcast techs. He did some testing in the house and everything looked ok, but couldn't get my modem to get connected. We tried a few things inside the house and nothing seemed to be working. I got a little more nervous. He didn't think it was a line issue outside the house because it was reading ok. He messed around inside a few more times and then finally said he would run down to the end of the street and check it out there. He came back and said the line in the box was pretty bad and said it needed to be replaced and it would be done tomorrow. Comcast told me the same thing with their cable many many times so I was skeptical, but to my surprise qwest was true to their words and fixed it by the time I was home the next day!
I got home the next day and it worked like a charm and stayed connected from then on. It made my happy to finally have a working connection and not have to deal with tech support on a more than weekly basis. I haven't had to call Qwest since that first time.
Over all I'm am very happy with the support, knowledgeable techs, and the techs willingness to troubleshoot problems. I cant say enough how nice it is to get a tech who doesnt want to leave until he has done all he can and know he will do everything to make sure its working.
I do have one complaint though. I wish they would upgrade the speed in the area to 7mb like I hear advertised all the time. It seems odd to pay for the 7mb service and only get 3mb because its not in your area yet. Also it would be nice to know what/when their network upgrades will take places in what areas.
