This is for those who think PBI is not MAC friendly; I also use Powerbook 5300C and have not had problem with PBI.
This is what subscribers may view for Macintosh help:
Macintosh OS 8.5 and your Pacific Bell Internet Account
"Our software is not compatible with Macintosh OS 8.5 (the latest Macintosh operating system). Our software is compatible with Macintosh OS 7.5 - 8.1; however, our current software was written and tested prior to the release of Macintosh OS 8.5.
Pacific Bell Internet, along with Netscape, is developing an alternative solution. This new software will not be available until approximately the second quarter of 1999.
Frequently Asked Questions How do I configure the software that came with Macintosh OS 8.5 to access my Pacific Bell Internet account?
NOTE: you won't be able to access the above unless you are authenticated as a PBI subscriber but it is a few pages that have screen shots of 8.5 and Internet Setup Assistant. HOWEVER, non-subscribers CAN access this page and review the same information prior to registration. You have a choice of registering online, if you have internet access or PBI tech support will fax the potential subscriber the document: »public.pacbell.net/cgi-bin/softdown.cgi
How do I configure Outlook Express so I can access e-mail?
I have a friend that would like to sign up for an account. Do you have instructions that I can print out »public.pacbell.net/dialup/4141.html for them?
These links deliver screen shots on how to setup Mac Internet Setup Assistant or manually configure PPP and TCP/IP with specific regional DNS servers.
