I found bway.net through a friend and was surprised at the turnaround time and efficiency of setup with Covad. My first circuit was up last summer, I recall it was up and running in my home in about 10 business days from the day I placed my initial order. When I moved in December, I had to take a brand new phone number from Verizon, I called bway.net on Monday with the new number which had only been active a few days. On the following Monday, I was again connected to reliable Covad DSL. For months I used the connection for 8 hours or more per day and can recall that only once on a Friday morning did I have any service outage. This outage lasted less than 2 hours. The sales and support people have always had the answers I needed though I havent had to ask much. With prices where they are for this kind of service, it's nice to know that my connection is there when I want it.

I ordered standard speed and this was 59.95 per month last summer. When I moved my price increased to 69.95 which reasonably has to do with fortunes of Covad and others I was told. I think I should have been offered another email account for free but I didnt press the issue. The order/install process was super smooth and easy. You don't have to chase the people at bway.net for install - between them and Covad they seem to have it all figured out.

One factor leading me to bway.net is that were not on PPPoE - I would be able to use VPN to connect to various networks. To make my connections more reliable, they gave me a static ip with no problem. Nothing to fill out, nothing to call on - it took 5 minutes.

Once when I had a problem with VPN, the people at bway and Covad took the time to check my routing etc with the connection to that site. It may have been ultimately resolved by the network techs at that site but nonetheless it was nice and professional that my provider did a thorough check of things on their side for me.

I use an Efficent Networks SpeedStream modem and it has performed well for me to date - there has never been an issue with my Mac or with my ThinkPad related to the network connection.

I recommend bway.net to anyone in the tri-state area who can use them. I think they probably have some of the most demanding users in the nation and will strive to keep them happy.

We turned to Bway.com for DSL connection after being recommended it form
several independent sources. Bway was not as good as promised - they were
better. Even paid the office a personal visit to see that everything was working ok.

Two month later we desperately needed a dialup connection for a North
Pole expedition - time was of course of the essence. Bway had it up and running within an hour - Excellent!

I LOVE my bway.net ADSL service. The cost is reasonable--better than
competitive especially in light of the reliability of the service and
the high level of competence and personableness of bway.net staff. And as a Mac user I especially appreciate bway.net's Mac-knowledgeable tech
    support.

The only DSL related difficulties I've encountered were created by
Verizon's failure to appear for scheduled installation appointments
and Verizon's lack of cooperation with Covad in coordinating service.
None of this reflects in anyway on bway.net. The DSL team at
bway.net was helpful and understanding in guiding me through the
    initial set up.

Bway.net: reliable, smart, communicative, people-friendly and cheap
enough. What more can you ask?

    Sincerely,
    Stella Grey

All my experiences with bway have been easy. When I needed a dial up account quickly, I had one that afternoon. When I decided to upgrade to DSL, the process took two minutes and within three weeks I had my account up and running. I know too many other people who have tried to take the discount route and ended up with long instellation waits and surly customer service. At bway, everyone is friendly and almost apologetic when I call with a problem, even if it's something that's my own fault - like using a phone line instead of ethernet to hook up my DSL modem.

I use bway for the same reason I shop at independent book sellers. I am willing to pay for quality service and individual attention.

When I started my new business I knew I had to get DSL, but I was really
nervous about it. Everyone I know who's tried DSL has had major problems
getting it installed and keeping it running. I use a lot of technology,
but I'm not a techie and all the jargon and hardware had me a little
    intimidated.

I'd been using Bway.net for dial up and knew that the staff was friendly
and helpful, so I gave them a call about DSL. I wasn't disappointed. They
answered all my questions, educated me about the choices, took the order
when I was ready and comfortable, and were there to support me every step
    of the way.

Bway.net handled all the coordination with Covad and Verizon and got the
line installed ahead of schedule. When I arrived at my new site, my DSL
was up and ready to go, and once again Bway.net was available to help me with
connecting to my computers. They even helped with with installing ethernet
cards in my older computers [above and beyond the call of duty].

I don't know how they are with service problems, because I simply haven't
had any. The internet has been there for me 24/7 from day one since I
installed the DSL. But I do know that whenever I've had to call Bway.net
about anything, whether on dial-up, on DSL, or on web hosting, there has
always been a courteous, knowledgeable response from a friendly support
    person with a can-do attitude.

Recently my ISP went down the tubes, this is an example of going with a local ISP. BWAY took over the Covad accounts from the previous ISP, they notified me and made all the arrangements with Covad. Have 1500/328 service witha static IP, and it has held close to those numbers. Was never able to get those speeds with the previous ISP, average 12-1300K to the West Coast, even during peak times. Service is good, they respond via email or telephone support. Home is good. If you want good local NYC service, BWAY does it. Migration went very well.

If you live in New York and your broadband connection goes dead, which is
the case nowadays with most of the providers, don't despair-call Bway at
    (212) 982-9800 and they will make sure that your broadband is back where it
was before. The whole procedure was fast, efficient and professional.

Blue Hub ( »bluehub.com ), a New York City based
e-commerce development firm, had been a customer of Intercom in New York
City for nearly 2 years when we were told they were discontinuing ADSL
service (actually they said Covad was but I knew this not to be true).

After calling a few ISPs I stumbled across Bway.net whom I had never heard
of before. The salesman, Joe, said all the things I wanted to hear, he was
knowledgeable and friendly. Their service was $9 per month more than what I
was currently paying but they sounded like they knew what they were doing so
I had them switch my ISP from Intercom to Bway through Covad.

The switchover was instant and seamless, and within 10 minutes of the ISP
change Bway had already requisitioned and implemented a static IP that I
    requested for a one-time fee of $25.

I was expecting more or less the same service but had no idea this would end
up being a major performance boost for our DSL.

We had subscribed for the same speed we had with our last ISP 1500kbps
downstream and 384kpbs upstream. While I could get near that speed with
Intercom if I was doing 10 things at once, I could not get even half the
promised bandwidth with any single activity. Browsing web pages,
downloading a single file, or ftping was essentially at half speed and
latency was issue. Bway tells me this is probably due to the fact that
although Intercom is based in NYC their router is with an affiliate, Cais,
in Washington DC, where as Bway's router is on 8th Avenue.

With Bway the speed is incredible, everything happens instantly and at full
speed. Both down and upstream are always at 1500/384 or even faster in the
case of text/html files, which get compressed along the way. DNS lookups
are faster than the eye can see, ftp is like using my local hard drive, and
there is no detectable latency. The DSL Reports speed test (the San Jose
    one) more than tripled.

Other services I found out about after joining was full news server
(intercom did not have one) and dial up pops in most major cities (no more
AOL on the road for me).

I am no novice to high speed Internet; I have used many corporate T1s and
have had DSL for a long time. I have never seen Internet this fast.

    Hamish Blackall

Value for money:

I've been using bway.net as my ISP for the last four or five years,
following them along the evolutionary path of Internet access. First
dial-up, then ISDN for a year or two and finally, in 1999, DSL. Joe
Plotkin and bway.net's DSL team got me up and running despite enormous
difficulties dealing with Verizon. I don't remember what I initially paid
for the service -- I think it ran higher than what everybody else was
charging at the time, but I had been a happy customer of bway's and thought
the extra cost worth the quality of the attention I had always
received. When I moved from my home late last year I was dismayed to find
that bway.net could not provide me with DSL service in my new
neighborhood. I ended up signing on with Verio, who was reselling
Northpoint service. It seemed like a bargain -- they gave me the hardware
for free and the service was only $50/month. Of course, if it seems to
good to be true, it probably is. When Northpoint folded in April, Verio
made no attempt to find alternative services for their customers.

I guess six months is a long time in Internet access land. In my
desperation I contacted Joe at bway.et and to my delight was informed that
they could now provide DSL service here in Sunnyside and that I needn't
wait for visits from Verizon or any reps from the DSL provider (I believe
it's Rhythms) -- they would ship me the required hardware which I could
install myself. Within two weeks I was back on-line, with very little
hassle. The cost for my service is $99/month for a zippy 1.5Mb /
384K. AND, in addition to the responsiveness by bway I got an added bonus:
they're buying back the old routers (at reduced price, of course) that I no
    longer have any need for.

I cannot recommend bway.net more highly. They're small, they're attentive,
they're smart. You never find yourself listening to recorded messages
telling you how much they value their customers -- instead they prove it to
you by going out of their way to make things work.
