Tech support is great. Problems fixed in minutes. Very responsive. They call you to report problems.
Web site needs work. Should be easier to get information on products, services, trouble tickets, etcetera.
A solid choice for business connectivity. They have consistently delivered reliable service for six years.

I looked at the review I did years ago and not much has changed. Downtime has been almost non-existent with the exception of an upgrade from 512Kbps to 768Kbps for no increase in price that had a few reliability hiccups early but were ironed out rather quickly. More of my customers are on Centrivity/Diginet/Volocom now and their reviews have been excellent. Damn, they change their name a lot. They switched at one point many years back from one DSL provider to another because they thought they weren't giving good service. I agreed with their decision and it has been smooth sailing. Their DNS services and support are excellent. Installation times have improved in this area.

Their marketing of their services still sucks. Their web site still needs work. But if you talk to someone, you'll get straight answers and good service.

8/12/2000 review:

I am a Cisco Premier dealer. I had a 384Kbps DSL service which I upgraded to 512Kbps. We have 16 IPs which is more than enough for us. My customers have 128K ISDN and 1.1Mbps DSL from Volocom. They also go by the names of Diginet and Centrivity. Installation is typically slow, but normal for this area. Installation problems have all been due to Covad (Volocom has switched completely to NAS) or Bell Atlantic/Verizon. Service is excellent. When Covad was dropping packets and having slowdowns, Volocom switched us for free to NAS. Volocom guarantees your bandwidth out to the edge of their network, and they mean it. Ping times are relatively low, showing low latency. I experienced occasional routing problems with Covad, though most of the problems seem to have disappeared two years ago with the switch to NAS. Speed improved after the switch as Volocom connected to Level 3 vs CAIS. Unfortunately, they Volocom doesn't control the access points and Bell Atlantic/Verizon and Covad have taken out our DSL line for 36h plus one time and 24h another. We have had almost zero downtime since the switch to NAS. The services we receive from Volocom are excellent. DNS and backup e mail services have been very helpful. Volocom is rather small. Their trouble ticketing and feedback systems have needed improvement for a long time, but the problems we have had have been resolved fairly quickly. I'd like to see a better looking web site and more working statistics pages. Their automated reports are somewhat off or broken sometimes, but they DO provide measurements of their services back to their customers. They have had occasional routing problems which we have pointed out to them and they have addressed them quickly. They make DNS changes quickly and responsibly. Their business DSL pricing is in line with the other providers in the area, although some providers only provide personal grade DSL with no guaranteed level of service. While we would like a lower price, we have also seen the service these DSL providers provide to their customers. UUNet and CAIS are much bigger companies, but they have given us information that screwed up customer networks and had poor install and service records.

These guys are SERIOUS about service. They deal straight with you. They are very professional, much more so than some of the much larger ISPs with more resources and more customers. For business grade DSL, they have been my DSL provider of choice for three years now. They even respond in the dead of night!

After struggling for weeks to find a reliable provider, I came across
Digicon. Unfortunately, we are in no-man's land for DSL connections, so I up for an ISDN line with them. The customer service that I received from them was exceptional,
they really took the time to explain every step and answer all my
questions. They were able to get us up and running in a very short amount
of time (14 business days, well ahead of schedule)

The package that I signed up for includes 8 free IP addresses, 5 email
addresses, and included 3 DNS hosting for 3 accounts, at a reasonable
price.
I would highly recommend Digicon/ Centrity to anyone who is looking for a
reliable ISP.

Courteous NOC, and it only took 14 days from the day I faxed my order, till the DSL pipe was installed. Good company. their motto is, "We are not the cheapest but we strive to be the best." have to pay?

I have been living in Tokyo - you can get 2MB all over - 8MB is becoming standard - it is all for less than $50 a month. My friend has fiber to the home, no lie 100MB at about $100 a month. Sorry, so far it sucks here.

Great service. They delivered everything had control over on or before schedule. Their folks really know their business, it seems to me.

The only downside is the Verizon backbone they run over.

They are responsive professional, and have come through very well.

I would like to give the highest recommendation to Volocom ISP. Earlier
this year we signed up to DSL when it was made available to our area. Being
a novice to the Internet, they were extremely helpful in answering
my daily barrage of questions and working with NAS to get us up and running in a very short period of time. Their sales person was patient in explaining all the detail that had to occur for setup. Their Installation Coordinator kept in touch with me on a very regular basis letting me know what was happening every step of the way.

Since the installation, their Customer Service department has been extremely
helpful and competent in getting and keeping our connections up and running
smoothly.

Their price was right, too!

Couldn't be happier,

Volocom provides superior service
NAS is blindingly incompetent
Volocom rocks

Value for money:

Originally we had DSL service with Savvis/Northpoint. That was a never-ending nightmare of lost connections, ignored phone calls, and unresolved trouble tickets. After the Northpoint bankruptcy, we purchased 384kbps DSL service with unlimited static IPs from Volocom/NAS for $370 install + $180/month.

From the start, Volocom has provided superior service. Our purchase was based on the favorable reviews Volocom received on this site. We also considered GTI, but found their sales staff to be nonresponsive. The Volocom sales staff was very responsive to our questions and requests to see their contract, etc., so we at least had a prayer that the organization would be well-run. Thankfully we appear to have made the right decision.

The Volocom technical staff is competent, considerate and EXTREMELY polite. We have encountered problems on the line (as expected), but the service difference vs. our previous experience is unbelievable. When we report a problem, they get Verizon and/or NAS to take prompt action and they follow up on it until it happens. What a difference! Their technical people call us unsolicited to let us know what the status of the trouble ticket is and what they're doing to resolve it. The first time that happened, I didn't know what to make of it. "Are they trying to sell me something?" was my first thought. My next thought was "So this is what service is..." It's something I can very easily get used to.

All I can say is, if you buy DSL service and your telco is Verizon, you should expect problems. I don't know anyone who hasn't experienced major problems with their Verizon DSL line. The Verizon people are incompetent, stupid, and poorly trained. It is very likely that they know less about telephone technology than you do. The NAS staff is even worse, I would be surprised if they even graduated from high school. So the only issue is how painful it is to get all those problems fixed without creating too many new ones. With our previous service, we had no confidence that the problems were going to get fixed unless we resorted to extraordinary measures (eg., call the Verizon and Northpoint people ourselves and tell them what to do even though that is not kosher). With Volocom, they handle all that for you and actually get results. What a relief.

The bottom line is that Volocom is the best ISP I have ever had. I recommend them to you unequivocally.

I had a great experience with these guys. Although I read so many flames and horror stories on dlsreports.com about other services that I fee my expectations may have been lower than others'.

I'm far from my CO, so I kind of felt like the fat kid at the dance who nobody wants anything to do with (read: IDSL). As dumb as it may sound, since Volocom was the only ISP that returned my call, the got my business. Pathetic, but true.

Nonetheless the oppressive establishment Verizon conspired to keep me down in the dial-up/broadband class warefare, but my commrade installations coordinator ensured that the revolution would be victorious.

Installation was bumpy. Verizon seemed to keep messing things up, but Volocom did their best to move it along, and their technical and customer support side is great. Those of us mere mortals without a Ph.D. in EE. we are treated with respect and intelligence.

We signed on with Volocom in January of 2001. Their plans were the least
expenseive available in our area and their staff were responsive and willing
to work with us. They actually assign an 'installation coordinator' to each
client who signs on - a representative follows the entire installation
process through and is responsible for moving things along and keeping you
informed. I've never seen that with any ISP; the nice personal touch aside,
it was extremely helpful to keeping things on schedule.

Volocom is a DSL reseller - they work off of the Network Access Solutions
infrastructure. I wasn't particularly impressed with NAS - Their scheduling
system failed us several times (pushing us back a week or two) - however,
their technicians were pretty good and ran on schedule.

As far as service goes, it has been good so far (We've only been up two
weeks). No interruptions yet for DSL or web hosting.

If you're looking for cheap and easy, Volocom is the way to go.

Having a 20 year run in the computer business I have had to deal with
all sorts of vendors. Most of them have performed adequately while some
were a total bust. But never in my experience have I come upon a
company that was so competent and a pleasure to deal with too. I'm so
impressed that Volocom has become my mantra to clients looking for fast,
reliable, DSL. Although promised service in 45 days I was up and
running in 21...less than half the time. Coordinating their
installation with my business was effortless because every communication
was clear and devoid of attitude and they delivered what they promised.
Their sales representative Chris Dietz was informative, comprehensive
and I never felt any pressure to buy. Mr. Deitz answered all questions
and those he couldn't he found out the information and returned calls
without a hitch. When time came for installation their agents showed up
on time and were quick and professional. But best of all once the line
and router were installed all we had to do was enter TCP/IP information
and bingo we were on the web without even one phone call to tech
support. Volocom is a Prince among the DSL crowd!

Volocom has provided us a rock-solid, high quality SDSL for over a year. Not a single outage during that time. Installation was quick, at the requested speed, and without incident.

We've also leased a full T1 from Volocom for over 2 years and have had similarly stellar service.

Highly recommended.
