I live in Broken Arrow and have only two DSL ISP options, Tulsa Connect and Valor. Local Telco is Valor so ISP aggregation link is thru Valor as I choose to stay with Tulsa Connect. TC have provided my home and home business ISP service for several years and I'm guessing (see explanation below) the only times when my service seemed slow, lost sync and required re-booting was probably the Valor circuit in between.

Every time we had a big rainstorm, the circuit would slow down or quit. Wet cables equal changes in RLC (resistance, capacitance and inductance) - all critical throughput factors.

A couple of software problems also brought the link down which the Valor techs helped me thru and I had squirrels eat thru the outside cable - hardly a telco or ISP problem!

I've never seen TC's data center but my professional guess is that they do things decently and in order or they wouldn't have lasted in business when so many of their competitors didn't. Good planning, equipment, support staff and customer service are not accidents so hearing that their data center was cluttered with batteries and other equipment seems surprising unless they were in the middle of a major re-configuration.

I worked for Williams and provided technical support under contract to Wiltel for their business network. After a big rainstorm I was out at an AT&T Pop where it interfaced the local Telco which was GTE (before Valor bought out the territory). The circuits were down and the vault was partially flooded. The tech from Wiltel told me that he worked for GTE for many years before Wiltel and that GTE only had two trucks in the whole state for emptying flooded manholes. This was not a surprise to me as I had project in Research Triangle Park with a 9600 bps data circuit (high speed at that time) and the GTE tech showed up with a multimeter to test the circuit.

Valor purchased facilities from GTE, already in place and while I would love them to provide a fiber termination to my door, it will be a while. In the meantime I'm stuck with old facilities that get wet when it rains but Tulsa Connect is not the problem. I have stayed with TC for my ISP as I knew Valor was new in this business and consider my home/business connection important and want people who have been around the block and Tulsa Connect people seem that way.

My perspective is from being in the data communications business for over 17 years as a design engineer, network architech, project manager and consultant in addition to my own consulting business.

I had 144/144 IDSL service in my home from another Tulsa ISP that went belly up without warning.

Tulsaconnect came highly recommended so I called them hoping for a painless changeover. This was not quite the case, albiet most of the problems were probably the fault of SBC and New Edge. I was required to purchase a new modem, exactly the same type I had already purchased for my old service and required to go through the whole installation process again. It took a good while to get the line allocated and installed, about 6 weeks. To be fair this was about the same amount of time it took with the first ISP to get up and running, and TC made sure I had a dialup account to use in the meantime. Tulsaconnect dealt with SBC and New Edge for me and kept me updated on thier bumbling ineptness.

My new service has been up and running for about 6 months now and I'm quite happy with it. Have had 2 outtages though. One occurred on a Saturday afternoon, so after phoning Tech support and getting no answer I left a message as requested, was never called back. Monday morning I called and service was up and running again within a few minutes. Other outtage was on a weekday (thankfully) and was up and running a couple of hours after a call to tech support. Other than the one weekend instance all my calls to ask questions have always been answered promptly and professionally.

IDSL is my only choice for broadband in my location and I am happy that someone bothers to offer it to home users at a halfway reasonble price. That being said Tulsaconnect will probably remain my ISP when (if?) ADSL becomes availiable to me.

Whenever I have questions, I always get very professional and prompt response from TulsaConnect. I had couple of problems and all of them are due to TELCO ( I have two accounts with TulsaConnect. TELCOs are SBC and Valor), however, TulsaConnect came forward and fixed them. I wish every service provider is like TulsaConnect.

Besides, I got the speed I was been promised. Order proccssing was fast and easy.

I'm using the 1.5M/384k service. Some of the most valuable features to me are:
1. Email filtered for SPAM and virus content - TulsaConnect provided this WAY before "other" ISPs did (many still don't)
2. Actually always on - I've heard from plenty of my friends and customers (who use the "other" ISPs) who lose their connectivity occasionally. Me, never (OK, once, but the Blaster worm took down THE Internet, hello)
3. Excellent support. I've never had any problems I didn't create (sound familiar?) but they are always willing to help get me straightened out.
4. No contract, no credit card, no hassle.
5. I get three static IP addresses, and I can connect PCs as I wish, not like some "other" ISPs, who want to charge for new PCs, or expect you to register each one. Since I work on other people's PCs alot, this is a plus.
6. Cool webmail. I check from work everyday, so it makes a difference.
7. No software required. I really hate installing anything unnecessary, and connection software is a pet peeve.

My DSL through TulsaConnect is 1.5mbit/384k, and very reliable. it took no more then 3 days to get everything up and running when I moved in to my new place. Even though my install date was for 4 days more, their staff was able to assist me in my setup instantly.

I've been a satisfied DSL customer since TulsaConnect was The WebZone. They are a very reliable provider and their support staff should be rewarded. If you live near or around the Tulsa area, look no further for dialup or broadband.

A short update: I've been with these guys a few months now and am VERY impressed. They offer excellent response and good service. Hey, it's the real world and the Internet. There will be occasional happenings. To me, anybody can look good when everything is going smooth. It's how a company responds when the real world interrups that tells what they are like. They took my original comment about DNS questions to heart, gave me multiple work-arounds, then went and found permanent ways to make things better. All from just one comment. I've recommended them to others locally and will continue to do the same.

Thanks guys.

I am quite satisfied with Tulsaconnect. I tried to get SBC Yahoo, but they block needed ports and could never get a server up long enough to register me. Tulsaconnect gave me all the set up necessary before I finished with the original sign-up. The only delay was waiting for the local phone provider (SBC again) to install additional line cards to handle the service to my area.

The tech service has been excellent. They answer quickly and actually have a legitimate answer. This is one of only 2 tech service groups that I have delt with that doesn't play the "let's walk through the script" game. They all respond well to questions and give solid information.

The only thing I would like to see improved is the DNS process. Depending on the day, betwenn 25 and 50% of my requests for pages come back as "URL not found" but if I just click the link or past the URL in again, it works. While other friends using Tulsaconnect have told me of this, apparently I'm one of the few to actually let them know it is happening. I am confident that eventually the bottleneck will be found and the system smoothed out.

I would recommend them to anyone in the Tulsa area.

DNS trouble is yours

I've used their dns servers for almost 10 years, with more than 20 customers of mine as well as my own businesses and my family and friends with no troubles. I even use there DNS servers when I'm unsure of others to check if the DNS is the problem. They are as solid as can be, you should be sure you are using their servers because I dont think you are. I'm sure there tech support would be glad to help you troubleshoot your problem.

We have been using the DSL from Tulsa Connect for almost a year now. We
are so pleased with the service. The tech support getting us up and
running with DSL was unsurpassed. We cannot imagine using another ISP
provider that is not local. Tulsa Connect also hosts our web site, and
the patience they have shown with us when we needed help was great.
