I have used Cyberonic for a number of years. Until recently, I have had only a few glitches that were adequately resolved.
During the past 12 months, there has been a noticeable change in both the quality of service: speed deceases of about 20% and stability--inconsistent service.
Five days ago, the service went out completely. I am still DOWN. During the course of these five days, I have talked with 8 people including 2 supervisors. Three had promised (including the two supervisors) to call me back by a certain time--only one, Tom, did.
I have had to call the phone company myself as well as their data service provider.
Initially, a new router was to be sent out. I had to pay for the overnight charges.
In short, this is not the same ISP it was earlier. And when I really needed the personal support and service, they weren't there.
**Follow up: Finally got the service back up on my own with SBC. With the help of Tom, we worked out remaining issues. Thanks Tom.
**Follow up 2: Since the initial debacle, Cyberonic is making an extraordinary effort to correct the wrong. Follow up calls from the manager Tom as well as almost a 1K bump in speed. It's been quite a turnaround. I am updating my category assessment.

I have had Cyberonic Dsl now for about a few months all is well so far. I recently switched from SBC DSL and I was amazed at the down speed from DSL. System is PPOE with 1 static IP, dedicated 6.0megs/768kbs, with Cyberonic supplied 4 port router. Internally I feed my wireless router and have 3 computers and two on wireless. I am using Packet 8 for VOIP and works very well. Cyberonic is one of the major Covad resellers and they offer Covad service for less monthly charges. Service is very good and technical support is available 7 days a week. Tech Support seems to be able answer most questions without going through what I call checklist tech support. I have no complaints except that one occasion service went down for about 10 minutes. I am very happy with Cyberonic service. I paying $79/mon for 6megs download dedicated line, and the best part, there is no additional charges, hidden charges or anything else. Very honest, reliable great company.

I was shopping around for a new computer system at our local Circuit City when a salesperson there recommended Cyberonic Internet. Ive never heard of Cyberonic and was hesitant to sign up for DSL with a 1-year commitment. After discussing it with my wife, we decided to give for it. I called Cyberonic and spoke with a sales person named Mr. John. He explained different Cyberonic DSL offerings and recommended ADSL 6 MEGS/ 768 KBS. The monthly charge is $59.99 per month for the first 6 months and $69.99 after 6 months. There is a $99 activation fee. It took about a week to receive the modem and about 10 to 15 minutes to set it up. Service is great and very fast. To anyone who is thinking of getting DSL subscription from Cyberonic, I would urge to talk to Mr. John or someone there and ask for special deals.

I have nothing but good to say about my experience with Cyberonics. The line has been stable since day 1 and I have only seen minimal downtime and it was just with email and not my entire connection. I am in my fourth year of having Cyberonic and would not change to cable for anything. I started with IDSL connection and changed it to Cyberonic/Covad dedicated Telesoho Static IP 1.5/384. I am about 16000+ ft from CO so speeds are not all that great, but I guess they could be worse.
dont have much of experience with technical support but in one instance that I called to get IP info for getting my Linksys set up, the techs stayed with me literally for hours until the problem was solved. When one tech couldn't solve the problem he bumped it up to someone who could. These guys were never in a hurry.
All in all, the service is ok.

This is by far one of the best providers I have come across in quite some time. I love the steady connection, fast speed, VPN works great, and life is good.
The connection is very reliable and very fast. I'm about 6k feet from my CO. I get about 1.3 down / 320 up on average according to the BBR speed tests. Downloads from fast sites can top 1.35m. The upstream is not bad, either. I'm able to push pretty good size file with no problem.
I ordered dry-line or dedicated DSL line (no existing phone line required) and paying $49 per month + 1 static IP. This is the best deal available around for dedicated dsl. I am using packet8 for voip and works like a charm. I have been very impressed compared to my neighbors cable connection. His online service goes out quite often.

After shopping around for several weeks for a Covad reseller to get a "dry-line" connection installed to my apartment I went with Cyberonic. My connection will be used for backup DNS, Primary MX, IMAP and httpd traffic. I need a static IP, which the sales person assured me would be the case if I purchased the 1.5/384 dry-line package.
After waiting a couple weeks for Covad to install the line a tech. showed up to install the router. After about an hour of him trying to figure out the instructions that Cyberonic provided on the work order he left, telling me that I am going to have to call Cyberonic to get a username and password to turn on my service. This sounded alot like a PPoE connection, which upon calling Cyberonic turned up being that case. I informed the tech support rep. that I specifically did not want a PPoE connection and the sales person assured me that I was getting a bridged 'net connection. The best he could offer was that I was getting a "sticky" IP. Not good. To get a static IP I would have to poney up $5 more a month. Ah, the old bait and switch.
While $5 is not that much extra, especially for a static IP, I felt that I could not trust the sales or support staff at Cyberonic and cancelled my service right there. The tech. on the phone again assured me that there would be no charges to my account (seeing has this was with in the 30 day grace peroid). He also told me that they would RMA the DSL modem. Well a month has passed, there is still a ~$400 charge on my credit card for the modem and no RMA has shown up. I called support again, and they told me that there can not be an RMA for this modem!
Now, not only have I wasted over a month dealing with these folks. I have been mislead twice and am now being forced to pay out of my pocket for their mistakes. In the end I went with Covad, which I was trying to avoid doing all along and support a small business like Cyberonic, but unfortunatly they dropped the ball on this one.
Moral of the story, don't trust these people when you talk to them on the phone. While I don't think they are trying to be dishonest (I hope) at the best it sounds like the people working for them really don't understand what they are doing.

I've waited awhile to write a review to see how stable connectivity and e-mail would be. I think things have gone very well. I am a DTVDSL refugee (dry pair installed in 3/2000) so was not bothered with downtime while getting lines released. I ordered on 1/6/03, recieved the router on 1/17 and was sync'd and surfing on 1/23.
NO muss, no fuss and I never felt the need to pester them for install status. (Strange, my Telocity(old DTVDSL) install also went like clockwork at a time when many were complaining loudly.) I'm getting about 1290/440 (they warned me up front that I wouldn't get much more than 300 up), much better then the 600/60 I was getting from DTVDSL. I called them last week to set up two more e-mail accounts and was pleased to find no Frank-on-hold, in fact no hold at all. I am very pleased with Cyberonic.
25 April 2005
Just a quick update, after 2 years of service I remain generally pleased with Cyberonic. The connection has been rock solid, I am getting 1290/600 and cannot remember any outages. I am still on the 1.5/768 plan (don't want to pay the setup fee to transfer to the 6.0/768plan, if they would comp or discount the setup I'd go for the faster connection). The Email servers have occasional 'brain farts' but are generally very good. Usenet servers are pretty poor, I see many 'server not found' and 'message no longer on server' messages, even for posts made that day . Problems remain also with the DNS servers. Shortly after getting their service I found DNS problems with the servers I was told to use. I changed to different Cyberonic DNS servers after reading a thread on this site. Lately these servers have also been flakey so for the last 3 or 4 weeks I have been using Level3's servers (also found in a thread on DSL Reports) and once again have aggrivation free surfing. Bottom line: I'm still happy with Cyberonic and I'm one who likes to gripe.

In late February I was shopping around for a new ISP- I had had verizon dsl for two years and wanted a change. I saw the advertising for cyberonic on this site, and decided to check them out. I was especially interested since their site and the ad I saw was advertising $39/month with an 18 month contract, and $49 if you paid month to month. Verizon I was pay $49 a month. I called up to verify and was told the same info, after being shuffled around between phone numbers and people. On 3/4 I called to order dsl service, and was told no, that is not the price. In order to get the $39 an month I had to prepay for 18 months of service. Not only did I not have $700 to fork off all at once, but I thought this was rediculous and told them to fix their advertising stating prepay. On 3/13 I received my modem, connected it, and the service was there. Since then I have not had any lapses in service, and I am just shy of T1 speed, which is a big difference than what I had. The most amazing this is after over two months now, not one piece of spam on my email account through cyberonic.
In general I am extremely happy- my only complaints are that their tech support could be better, and they need to fix their advertising and state that the 18 month contract is prepaid
Well, as of yesterday 4/13 I decided to switch dsl providers as the cost is unacceptable to me- $49 plus $26 a month for the phone line. I would have loved to go with their $39 a month but pre-pay is kind of ridiculous. I was hoping they would drop their price to be more competitive, but they did not. I am switching to Cavalier- will see how they are.

I have read alot of reviews about Cyberonic and alot of them where good and some bad.
In my own experience with Cyberonic and DSL which I have had for a couple of years has been nothing other then smooth ride.
Well I moved into another location, Houston to be exact. Got my DSL here about a few months ago, The wait time this time was a little bit longer, but they got it done in 14 days or so. The reason for the wait time was because the Covad technician had to come in and install a wall jack.
I am paying for Cyberonic/Covad Dryline or dedicated line with 1 static IP for $49/mon and that was the cheapest rate available from a Covad resellers. I have looked at major Covad resellers like Speakeasy and Earthlink and Cyberonic offers the best Covad resellers deal.
Though I've had to call tech support 5 times over few weeks, getting to a live person is relatively quick and problem is resolved.
Thanks Cyberonic!!!!

I enjoy using Cyberonic Dryline Dsl service. Ever since I ordered the service everything's been stable. I have no problem with the service. My connection speed is 1.5mb/384kb which is good, including a static IP address. I am paying $49.99 monthly which is cheap for Covad Dryline service. They were extremely fast to send my equipment and get my line provisioned. And it appears quite stable. Of course, only time can tell how stable it will be. But thing look good for now.
I am thinking to get voip and give up my landline. I am checking Vonage, Packet 8 and Lingo. I heard a lot of good stuff about Lingo and may consider it. The one thing I will say is that I am not the average DSL customer. I was a network engineer for some time and worked in the IT industry. I know voip and DSL services and how to make them work. I really appreciate the power of DSLR/BBR forums behind me to search for the right voip and DSL companies.
