Bignet was the ISP I went with for the Covad DSL, but when covad installed they immediately pointed the finger at Bignet for the problem with the service. Well the long and the short of it is that Bignet has not told me anything about what they are going to do about it. And every time I call tech support they act suppressed that there is a problem, and that the DSL never has worked! Good job Bignet/Covad, what a cluster F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their service is very unreliable and customer service poor and the people extremely unresponsive with very little knowledge.
When I got the service (768/384) I was told I would get a static address, but when it got installed, it changed to DHCP.
Half the time their DHCP server is down, and I have repeatedly complained that there's something wrong with my service. Their stock reply is turn off the modem and then turn it back on after 2-3 minutes. They kept saying that it was my computer and finally after weeks of insistence, they got Covad involved and found that the line was bad and got it replaced. Now again after a few days of working reasonably well, it has gone really bad. Their reply as usual is turn off the bridge and turn it back on after a few minutes.
Since I committed the mistake of signing a year long contract, I am stuck with them, otherwise I would have cancelled my service in a heartbeat.
Now they changed all 768 to 1.5 Mbps, but I am stuck with a bridge that can only go as fast as 1.1 Mbps, though that's the least of my problems. I only want my connection to work reliably and not having to turn off and on the bridge every few hours.

Thanks to DSL Reports I found Bignet and Covad and was able to place an order for 608/128 dynamic ASDL service on April 28, 2000. They have a special offer of $29.95 for the first thre months then it caps at $49.95 thereafter. They quoted 35 to 45 days because of coordination with the phone company. They actually installed it within three weeks! Ameritch came exactly on schedule as did the Covad guys who installed the equipment. They were very polite and knowledgable and had my system up in minutes. I'm not sure of the exact speed it's not quite 608 but it flies when compared to the dual ISDN line I was using and is half the price! Tech support is good and very helpful although it takes a few minutes to get through. The only problem I'm having is getting into my new E-mail acount and thats probably just a setup issue.
Bottom line, these guys are better than they say they are!

I ordered ADSL from Bignet (mich.com) and received the installation from Covad. Things went GREAT, they set up an appointment 3 weeks early, arrived on time and it worked the first time. They know what they are doing, not like other sad stories.

Ordered DSl 2/24/00 Finally installed on 4/7/00. Overall I think there is a tremendous improvment over dial-up. Install process was very poorly planed. I never recived a call from Bignet, Ameritech, or Covad. I had to find out my scheduled install date by calling tech support. A call from someonw would have been nice considering it took almost six weeks from payment to install. I only have one other complaint, When I ordered the service the only speeds for home use were 384/128 for 49.95/month and 768/384 for 69.95/month. I chose the 384/128. Now I see that Bignet offers 608/128 for 49.95/month WITH the first 3 month only 29.95/month. It would be nice if Bignet would upgrade me to the faster speed or charge less for the slower speed.

I contacted BigNet to get more info on their service after seeing a billboard nearby. They were very helpful, and faxed a contract my way within a few minutes. Unfortunately, they only offered dynamic IP addresses for the price range I was in, so I didn't choose them. However, they still charged my credit card $300 for installation and what-not. I was a little pissed off, especially since the contract required my signature for my credit card to be charged. I called back after I discovered the charge, and they agreed to refund...10 days go by, and I called again. They had lost my credit card number and couldn't refund, so I gave it to them again. Finally the amount was refunded. Hope you folks enjoyed the interest-free loan.

I visited the Web site (»www.bignet.net) of this company after hearing their ads repeatedly on the radio here in Atlanta. When I requested service availability at my location, all I received in return was a generic email response from a sales rep ("call me at....") along with a copy of the HAPPY99 VIRUS!!!!
I don't think so! Don't bother with these idiots. I've contracted with Speakeasy instead - so far, so good.
