I have been with Speed Factory for a little more than a year. A couple of minor interruptions, mostly planned outages for maintenance, etc., and in each unplanned case it was determined (by me) to be the ILEC at fault. I actually came from the ILEC's ISP (Bellsouth Internet Services), and hated it there.
Between the service, support, reliability, and absence of ignorance I can say that I am home. While Speed Factory's support is 24x7, its something I can live with as the current alternative is support from a country where the technician and myself cannot understand one another and I'm just a number worth dropping the ball on.
Why can't more ISP's be like Speed Factory?

I was with Earthlink (actually Mindspring) for 14 years. The last 6 were DSL. I had periodic outages that I lived with. I ordered static IP to run a VPN. They started billing me for the static IP, but never delivered the service. After numerous calls where I was told that I would just have to be patient and they might get around to it, I switched to Speed Factory. There is absolutely no comparison between Speed Factory and Earthlink. Switch NOW.

Update as of 11/12/2004:
A few months ago I moved and was forced to cancel SpeedFactory as DSL was not available at my new apartment. My family is still using my connection and has had absolutely no trouble. SpeedFactory remains the best ISP I have dealt with.
/end of update.
UPDATE:
I can't believe how amazing this company's customer service is:) So about a month ago I left my job with earthlink to go work for a network consultation company. Unfortunately, having expected to be with earthlink for awhile (even though I had speedfactory dsl the whole time) I was having my billing invoices sent to my work email address. I got so harried in changing jobs etc that I forgot to tell speedfactory that my email was going to change. Now it had been awhile since I'd gotten a bill but I'd been so busy I hadn't even had time to think about it. Turns out I was 18 days overdue. Most ISP's would just shut you off, NOT THESE GUYS:). I got a call today from them asking if my email had changed because their emails had been bouncing back. They noticed that they were getting returns!:) So I gave them my new info, and the whole time the person on the phone was very cool. A company that cares enough about it's customers to call them when they have out of date info. I already had my mind made up, but after today, I am never going with another dsl ISP, for anything.
END OF UPDATE:
Okay, let me start this off with a little background, I'm a tech for a major isp (not speedfactory), and previously have worked as a dsl tech supervisor for one of the bells, and in the provisioning department of covad, so I know just how painful the dsl process usually is.
So I was surfing on my incredibly slow dialup connection frustrated by a lack of dsl availability. To summarize I am 30,000 feet plus away from my CO, too far for dsl without a miniram, and noone around here was doing minirams. so one day I got pissed off and decided to call every single isp I could find until I found one with a miniram. Well, I encountered speedfactory (obviously). Ordered my service, after a killer conversation with one of the executives (who answered the phone), he reminded me alot of charles brewer...oh I miss mindspring before earthlink::puts hand to head::. Anyway, I ordered dsl service and about 6, not 20, not 40, not 6 months, but 6 DAYS later my line was provisioned and the installer showed up when he said he would. The install went nearly flawlessly, (not the easiest install in a residence with 3 phone lines, an alarm system, etc.). And I was up and running with a BRIDGED connection in a couple hours. that's right, no pppoe software, bridged, as in authenticates via mac address, as in true always on, as in what the bellsouth and big isp's don't do anymore to save money.....and since then...welll.....
I've been surfing consistently, not a single outage or hiccup, getting between 1-1.4mbps in an area where dsl shouldn't even be possible. My ping times are incredible and I'm under 20ms almost all the way to my destinations usually.
Overall, this is one of the best experiences as a consumer i've ever had and from the perspective of a dsl tech this company really has it's act together in a way I've almost never read about. I LOVE DSL!!!!!:)

I can not be more strong in my reccomendation of Speedfactory. They are fantastic! Excellent service, knowledgeable, easy to deal with and they don't drop the ball! This line was slammed by Bellsouth after 2 weeks of service and the staff at speedfactory got re-provisioning done in under 3 hours! Unbelieveable! These guys are your best friends when things aren't right! I will always reccomend Speedfactory first for my clients, no exceptions.

Upgrading from 1.5 to 3.0 was free since I already had a static IP ($10 extra with 1.5, free with 3.0)
Some problems running VPN over 3.0Mb/sec: short failures cause VPN to disconnect.
Service is great for normal browsing, email, etc.

05.03.05 All customers are apparently being switched to PPPoE. But still, Rock on with Speed factory. Customer web-site is looking better but still hard to work with.
10.01.04 Speed Factory still rock and the Techs on the phone are still able to help me quickly with a minimum of hold time. I still wish their website was more full featured esp. in the account maintainance section. But I love that the service is always up. I have NEVER had the gateway hang me. I would highly recommend Speedfactory to anyone looking for service.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have had Speed Factory since the end of February (another refugee from the "Great DTV Shutdown") and have had virtually no complaints about the service. I have experienced a little slowing on the down stream rate, but not enough to lodge a complaint with SF nor enough to go hacking around in the registry for that last measure of speed.
I have made a few changes to my account over time, most notable a change to my DNS entry. When I have had to call Tech support or the Sales Dept I have always been greeted by fast, efficient representatives who have answered both the phone and my question without long waits on hold (truly a remarkable combination). The only weak link I have found is the Speed Factory website. So many mundane day-to-day tasks could be handled through the website such as changes to contact information, DNS updates, service upgrades but there is no accommodation for that at SF. For an high Speed ISP in a very competitive market I just think it gives you an edge to offer conveniences like online account maintenance rather than calling any time you need a simple change.
I feel I must mention the cost. All I can say is this is the most I have had to pay and I still have sticker shock. Yes, I am a tight wad but I still think $70/Mo is a hell of alot of cash for surfing the net. DTV was $40 with a static IP and DNS. It does feel better that BellSouth though.
In the end Speed Factory is reliable, fast and has friendly, helpful phone support. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was with BellSouth and had horrible experiences with their tech support. Countless calls (countless hours spent) to get nothing resolved. A friend told me about Speed Factory's DSL service and I had to check it out. You have to be a little curious about a company when everything you hear and read is raving about how good they are. Being a skeptic I decided to sign up and found that everything I heard is the gospel. The tech support is always a live body that is knowledgeable and helpful. They gave me two months free and service has been rock solid for now working on two months. If you are new to high speed or looking for a switch, I would recommend their 3M DSL.

I was a Bellsouth dsl customer for over a year. I had a lot of trouble with there e-mail and news server. So I switch to Speedfactory. Have had them for about 4 months and have love it. No more mail trouble and there news server is great.
I have not lost sevice or had any trouble yet. My speed test from dslreports show
1275 down 220 up I still use my Alcatel Speedtouch Home modem (this came from bellsouth) also a linksys 8 port router. I would recomend anyone to get their service thu Speedfactory.
Will I went back to Bellsouth for a year because of the discount that I got because I had complete choice and LD so I got a $10.00 a month discount. Still alot of e-mail trouble.
On 9-14-04 changed back to Speedfactory, everthing is great again. If you are in the Atlanta, Ga area and looking for a great ISP then give Speedfactory a call.

Just wanted to take a minute to publicly THANK "TJ" at SpeedFactory for his help last night. Yesterday my BellSouth dial tone was dead for several hours (so was all the neighbors), when the phone came back live, the DSL didn't. I power cycled the router, but no joy.
I called the help line, put on hold for less than a minute, then "TJ" went into action and got BellSouth engineers on the line, 30 minutes later I was back in business. BellSouth had failed to re-provision my line after the outage/line repairs.
Here I am over 29000ft and getting over 2.4MBPS down/324KBPS up (3M/384K service). These guys ROCK!
Thanks TJ and SpeedFactory!!
Bob
_____________Original_Review______________
I had DirecTV DSL and tried last week to go with SpeakEasy; however, they canceled my order because of "Pair Gain" and over 29000 ft to the CO. Faxed my order Friday around lunchtime to Speed Factory. This morning found my Direct DSL was down, got home this afternoon and found the new router at the doorstep. Installed, up and going within 10 minutes. a quick phone call to Speed Factory, answered in less than 1 minute and 5 minutes later had mail and news. So far so good.
Speed Tests:
DirecTV: 1123 / 124 12/20/02 10:30pm Speed Factory: 1023 / 217 12/31/02 4:00pm
I'm satisfied! Now what to do with the DirecTV boat anchor? -Bob-
