Value for money:
Ordered 768/128 ADSL circuit from Verizon, used US Internet as the local ISP. I called Verizon, they made the connection, then I called USI, they activated it an everything worked.
Verizon supplies Fujitsu/Orckit modem and self install kit. I get static IP and the ability to use a server, all things that are unavailable if using Verizon Online as the ISP (for a residential connection).
Most important, when using USI, I can talk to the right people on the first call...no dealing with poorly trained low level people at Verizon online.
Verizon's circuits (the connection itself) works great, and their technicians even called to check that everything was OK. This is a great way to go.
If for any reason I would ever become dissatisfied with USI (can't imagine this happening) I own the circuit. I can simply ask Verizon to direct the circuit to some other ISP. No cancellation or other problems.
USI does not provide national dial up, just local numbers. But when I travel, there is usually an internet terminal available to me. This and the slightly high price are the only drawbacks, but the overall experience is very positive.
