Folks:
I want to add a separate thread for people interested in a concerted effort to SUE/PURSUE Teliquest and the people behind this company by whatever legal means possible including jointly contacting the Attorney General's office/Publicity of companies linked with them and bringing out the people/companies behind this SCAM. ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME IN THIS POST.

Does anyone out there know of a good lawyer. By the way. If you want to reach the Teliquest people try calling these numbers at THEIR expense:
Number to call: 888-999-4657
Ken Kellerman x23
Victor x 39
Does anyone know Dawn's extension? Please inundate them with phone calls and let us see if they will listen

Okay, after reading the many reviews of many different companies... I decided to get DSL and give Teliquest a try. I had a couple questions so I tried to give them a call. As many other people found out, they are still have major problems with the phone system. For about 30 mins I got "No room to record your message, try again later." When I finally did get though, I got a nice salesman, seems to know what was going on. He said that I get one static IP, and I can park a domain name on it. Since I have a few, I found this a valuable option. I also asked if we are allowed to run a web/ftp server, and again he said it was okay... I have no CC and he said it was no problem. As of now, it's about 1630 EDT and he said that the billing department has gone home, but they would e-mail me a contract tomorrow (Friday).

23-Apr-00
It's Sunday, and I finally got the contract e-mailed to me. It is not possible for me to overnight any money on a Sunday, and they won't place the order until they get their money. For now I will make these posts as "Anonymous" as possible just to see how long this process will take.
More updates to come...

25-May-00
It's been a month, and now I am curious what exactly happened to my money... TeliQuest's answering machine/service was just routing me to a message, so I e-mailed then and left a voice message... good thing I called because BellSouth was scheduled to come out the next day... nothing like short notice.

26-May-00
BellSouth came out today and did their part of the install.

31-May-00
Being curious how long it would take Covad to get out here, I called TeliQuest again, and got no new information, so I contacted Covad directly and found out they will be there on June 2nd. Got a call around 7PM from TeliQuest about Covad having a tech scheduled... I beginning to wonder if they only call in response to the customer calling first.

02-Jun-00
Covad came out and they can see the Router, but it is no syncing up with the line... Covad is refering this to BellSouth.

13-Jun-00
Covad came back out again and they are still unable to get the Router to sync up with the line... Covad is going to set up a "Vendor Meet" between them and BellSouth at the equipment co-locate. Was advised it could be 3-10 days before BellSouth could come up with any information and/or a fix.

23-Jun-00
Being accustomed to being kept OUT of the loop, I called Covad to see if I could get an update on my open ticket... found out that they suddenly decided that the loop was too long, and they want to decrease my line speed from the 1500/384 I signed up for, to the 144/144 that they were pretty sure they could proved... mind you the router is STILL not able to sync to the line... this of course is totally unacceptable since I was told I would be able to get what I signed up for... now the battle begins to get my $277 back, and after 2 months I want my money back ASAP. Called TeliQuest, and as usual... I can get nothing but an answering machine... more updates to come.

11-Jul-00
Sent a certified letter last week requesting my money back from these people... as far as I can tell, no service is no service, and I can't understand what reason they might have for holding my money. When I get the reciept from the letter I am submitting it to the BBB to see what results they may be able to get.

24-Jul-00
I recieved my return receipt for the letter to these people and promptly submitted a complaint with the BBB via their website. We will se where this goes.

02-Aug-00
I got a letter in the mail from the BBB of New York stating that they were making contact with the company and I should expect to hear from them soon.

04-Aug-00
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? Someone actually ANSWERED the phone... I was so shocked to hear a voice that actually had a person behind it I almost hung up thinking it was the answering machine again. I requested my refund, and she said she, "will add my name to the list"... THE LIST??? They have so many requests for a refund they actually had to come up with a LIST??? Now I wonder how long it will take me to get through said list and get my money back... and I am still awaiting contact from their company reguarding the BBB thing.

17-Aug-00
Just for fun, I wanted to mention that after Covad said that I was unable to get DSL at my location because the "loop is too long", I signed up with BellSouth. For just over a month I have been flying along, ON DSL, at just over 1,087. Interesting, no?

08-Dec-00
Still no refund... Called Teliquest at 631-264-6486, no answer. Called 631-691-0737, ext 19 for Customer Service... got Victor who said that this number was not for Teliquest, they are not associated with Teliquest, and are not allowed to discuss anything about Teliquest or their problems. BBB complaint came back as inconclusive as Teliquest never responded to the BBB. Filed a complaint with the NY Consumer Protection office. Will wait to see what happens with that.

OK,, I've had it up to here with these jackasses. Ken Kellerman PROMISED me a refund - after I waited SIX months for nonexistant service - over 10 weeks ago. My last contact was with Victor 2 weeks ago who had the familiar story that their billing dept. was out to lunch and he could call me right back..Right.

Since then I've received ZERO calls, and seen NO refund. I've tried every single day for the past two weeks to contact them, but their phone simply rings and rings until it cuts you off with a busy signal. I'm out $358, which includes a mysterious $99 overcharge to my credit card. Since this all happened back in March, my CC company says there is nothing that they can do at this point.

Its obvious after reading all these posts that I'm not the only one getting shafted by these guys. If anyone can suggest anyway of suing the crap out of these thieves I'm ready to try it. Anyone know what consumer or gov't agency or agencies I need to get in touch with regarding this? The BBB seems pretty ineffective as far as I can see. I really don't think they care if they have a bad rating or not.

----- UPDATE 11/2/00 -----
Well, everything was fine with my service until the Teliquest mail server went down last week, and now refuses to authenticate me. They have no website, and don't answer any of the phone numbers I've found for them. I have no way to cancel, and no way to contact them....

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING WITH THESE GUYS.

Since my IP is still valid and I still have service, I'm going to try contacting PSN to find out what's up. I would have switched to HorizonDSL (an alternative service provider that several people here have recommended) already, but I'm only going to be at my current location for another three months at most - I wonder if they'll give me a contract that short.

--------------------------------------

Things started out great with this company - I called them up in March and found out I could get Northpoint 416/384. My local cable company had been stalling on cable modem service (was supposed to be available last July, finally is available this month), and I really wanted a broadband connection. I also preferred DSL to cable, so I was pretty happy when I got prequaled by Andy.

They emailed me a contract, just like they said they would, and I faxed it back. After several phone calls, I finally got through to some who confirmed that the contract had been received and that everything was in order.

Two weeks go by without a word from Bell Atlantic, Northpoint, or Teliquest.

Eventually, I decide to call and see what's up; the rep answers promptly, takes my name, and puts me on hold to go find out my order status... Ten minutes later I hang up and call again (I thought I'd been disconnected). Victor answers and puts me on hold again, and when he comes back he tells me that my contract had been mistakenly filed in the wrong place, and that the order hadn't been placed with BA/Northpoint. BUT he said he would put the order in at the top of the list, and that it shouldn't delay my install date by very much.

Well, okay, I can wait an extra week. The good news is that I should get fifty bucks out of it because Northpoint upped the insallation rebate, but I would still be charged for the install price I signed up at. The next week, I sent out an email asking about my order status, and what else I can do to find out information from BA/Northpoint.

Two weeks go by without a word from Bell Atlantic, Northpoint, or Teliquest.

I compose another email asking about my order, and ironically receive a response to my first email just as I'm finishing it. Ken tells me that my order has been "escalated," and ignores the rest of my questions. Oh well, at least I'm "escalated." Stupid me - I only then realized that I had four months left in my apartment lease, and the minimum contract term is three months. So I send off another email to Teliquest saying that I need to have a date from someone, or else I have to cancel because of the minimum term. Ken then sends me an offer I can't refuse: a month-to-month contract, as a way to make up for losing my contract for a few weeks. After much internal debate, I send an email to Ken to let him know I want stay with Teliquest.

Two weeks go by without a word from Bell Atlantic, Northpoint, or Teliquest.

I send off a brief email asking about my order status. I get a response a few days later. Ken tells me that my order has been "escalated." Gee, thanks.

Two weeks go by without a word from Bell Atlantic, Northpoint, or Teliquest.

I decide to call them and see what's up. Okay, I know I shouldn't have called on a Friday afternoon, but that was when I had time free. The rep who answered (can't remember his name) sounded just like the teenager who works at Krusty Burger in the Simpsons.... APPARENTLY they managed to lose another critical piece of paperwork (some TLA that the rep mumbled at me - it began with a 'P') "on the floor," and they only managed to find it just when I called. I asked what this meant and was told that my order hadn't been able to progress without it. I asked what exactly the form was, and got the same answer. So I asked what the acronym stood for and he couldn't tell me. So I asked what I can do, and was told to call back when his manager was in.

Whatever. Either they have a worse filing system than I do (piles of paper on my desk), or something's fishy. At the very least they have a major organization/execution problem. Eight weeks is a long time to wait, but at least they didn't charge my card.

In any case, unless I hear back from them today with extremely positive news, I'm going with the cable modems that just became available in my area the beginning of the month.

After a tough installation and service experience, I decided to just keep the contract for 90 days and cancel. On the 60th day i emailed my 30 day cancellation notice the way Mr. Kellerman told me, but no response. I don't know their current phone numbers or street address because the posted reviews have given me different information. Can anyone tell me how to contact and/or how to cancel my DSL? Thank-you.

I thought I ordered 600 kb/s at $49/month in February 2000. It took several months to get installation -- things worked at a rate of 3 kbyte/sec max. Got lots of feedback similar to the other stories in this file, but never any action.

Repeated calling? No answers, no call backs. No service. No nothing.

I had the numbers of three or four of their people. Send them email? no response. Call them and leave message? no response. nothing.

No service. no response. Nothing.

One of the worst business experiences I've ever had. Avoid them at all costs.

UPDATE: They have a new "front" operation -- a company called Relay Point in CA. Relay Point didn't have a clue about Teliquest's past. After a silence of months, Teliquest/RelayPoint sent out Covad to "install my DSL" -- of course, without prior notice. It has taken me another half dozen emails and telephone calls to get this stopped. I also apprised RelayPoint of this website, and of Teliquest's past ...
