Value for money:
Note: I'm leaving Panix (who can't provide me with DSL at my present address) after a long time, so I'm spoiled.
Verizon (who suck) blew off the first appointment. MDS worked with NAS to get a second appointment with Verizon (who suck) two weeks later. Two days after that, NAS tech guy came with a Lucent DSLPipe router, set it up, and after a brief wait to get IP addresses, I was up and running. All through it they were helpful and patient, especially since I'm a systems geek and so was asking all sorts of questions they probably don't normally get.
The technical support staff, whom I need to set up secondary DNS and MX, are not so responsive. It's a week now and still no mail backup or name server backup. Since I have my PPP connection still, and name service pointing to it from Panix, this isn't a big issue yet.
Phone support is pretty strictly M-F 9-5, but that doesn't matter once you're fully set up, since you won't need it.
ADSL accounts are DHCP. SDSL accounts have static IPs (4 bit subnet). There is no news server access provided for SDSL customers (who are directed to supernews.com, who sell a $13.95/month personal news account).
Overall, good people, good value, good service. Recommend highly.
