I am a former Road Runner customer. I recently purchased a house in Dunedin, FL and due to a pretty good cable channel line-up I decided to go with Verizon Americast, and use their Worldwind cable modem service. They are priced right around what Time-Warner's Road Runner service costs, but the performance difference is hugh. Verizon's Worldwind service is very slow and fluctuates a great deal. I've had as high as 300Kbps, which is still slow for cable, but I've also had as low as 10Kpbs! I am currently considering ways to get out of the annual contract and go back to Road Runner.
