I have been a happy Transbeam customer for almost 5 years now. I have a 2.3mbit SDSL line that is rockin' fast. I also have a T1 line from Globix as failover but in the past 2 years I have never used it. not once. 5 days ago I asked for 2 Voice-over-DSL lines from Transbeam and today they showed up with a new IAD and installed it for me. It took all of 3 minutes to install. The voice quality is as good as my Verizon POTS lines and I will me making most of my phone calls from these lines - saving TONS of money in the process. I highly recommend Transbeam for voice and data needs. Started out with Transbeam 3 years ago on SDSL, moved up to a T1 in Feburary 2005 after I got sick and tired of DSL and Cable (DSL was too slow and cable was unstable). Installation for SDSL took about a month, it had problems due to the distance from my CO. So the speed was reduced to 192K. I kept it this way for a few years while I subscribed to ADSL and Cable from other ISP's. The sole purpose of this line was for my server. After getting fed up with ADSL, and Cable (and realizing that Internet access was costing me a fortune, $400+ per month) I decided to trade it all in for a full T1 from Transbeam. They offered me the best price, and I loved thier services with the SDSL line even though it was not working at the time. T1 was ordered in October 2004 and was downloading at 1.5mbps in February 2005. They setup and install fees were waived, and I had a Cisco 2620 Router laying around that Transbeam let me use instead of purchasing a router. I shipped the router ($5) to Transbeam, they configured the router and shipped it back all at no extra cost. The setup costs were suppose to be $0, but becuase I was the first person in my area to install a T1 (residential), there were no facilities for a T1. So I had to pay up $300 so Verizon could install the required facilities. Once I was up, I knew it was worth the wait and the money. I've used a T1 at work all the time, but it's a completly diffrent experience from home. 6 Staic IP's, with 5 usable, unlimited usage, ability to run servers, host websites, and domains, VPN and enjoy P2P, sreaming video, and bittorent at it's fullest. This was the smoothest installation experciance I've ever had, Transbeam took care of EVERYTHING. Every once in a while Transbeam would email me a status update letting me know whats going on with my installation. I never found myself calling them, they would call me to setup appontments. The only thing I had to do, was setup my personal computers and routers. These people truly appreciate your business, I would highly recomend them to anyone. The only down side to them is that they don't like to give thier costumers more than one Static IP address, you really need to be on top of them if you request (or want) more than one Static IP. member for 22.4 years, 1528 visits, last login: 23 days ago lodged 19.1 years ago
I selected Transbeam because of a recommendation from a business associate who uses them for his companies DSL. We called them and their sales staff was very knowledgable and friendly. They asked us some questions and then recommended a few different options to us. The installation was completed approx. 12 days after we placed the order. We were kept informed every step of the way by email. When the service was turned up their customer service department walked us through the set up on our computers. We have been using them for about 4 months and have never had any real problems. I have since recommended them to many of my clients and friends. I would give them 5 stars. We used to be a business SDSL subscriber of Intercomm Online (had been for 3+ years; after our first year, we were on a month-to-month subscription). Out of the blue, we got a notice that our account was being sold to Transbeam within a matter of days. We had no choice in the matter -- it was happening beyond our control. Ok, that was fine. We had a few hiccups on the transfer to Transbeam, but it all generally went well. We continued to stay with Transbeam for several more months, and their tech support was always quite helpful and friendly. We had few complaints about the service -- we were pretty happy with it. Recently, we found that a local provider can give us faster DSL for a far smaller price (Bell South), so we decided to go with them (we're a small organization with very little disposable cash). We gave Transbeam 30 days notice and then cancelled our service and switched to Bell South. A Mr. A. Hidalgo from Transbeam got extremely angry at us (!); he called and breated my organization's business manager, insisting that we had not lived up to their terms of service. First of all, we never saw or agreed to any terms of service since we were unwillingly transferred from Intercomm Online (specifically: no signed contracts, no "click through" EULA, nothing). Second of all, the part that Mr. A. Hidalgo is complaing about is that we didn't provide enough notice of cancellation. We went to Transbeam's web site and found their terms of service -- it apparently requires a 30 day notice (remember: we never signed any contracts to this effect). But the kicker is that we *did* provide Transbeam 30 days notice of our intent to cancel: we called on 31 Aug and were advised to send an e-mail to Transbeam indicating that we wanted to cancel, which we did on 1 Sep -- our cancellation was effective 30 Sep. As of today, Transbeam continues to send us bills for service that we never received (e.g., a mysterious "SPAM" line item has appeared) -- the total bill is currently approximately $839. Transbeam (Mr. A. Hidalgo) is no longer returning out phone calls or e-mails to discuss the issue; we have been forced to send a complaint letter to the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York. member for 23 years, 11 visits, last login: 19 years ago lodged 19.4 years ago
I am a transbeam subscriber for 230k up/down SDSL. I also have 6 VoDSL phone lines. All of these works great when they work, but recently due to a series of "upgrades", the phone service has been flaky. Also, my connection has been going up and down intermittently due to either CO side testing or a faulty router. The reason I say faulty router is because I cannot ping my local gateway after my internet connection drops. Also, the router is shown to be connected at the CO. Regardless, transbeam is a good value when it is working. Currently I am looking for another dsl provider as a backup. (review was emailed from domain flytrading.com) lodged 19.8 years ago
I have been using Transbeam out of NYC for the past year. At the time I started service the only service was IDSL. In the year that I have used them there was only 1 disruption of service. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call from them letting me know that they were aware of the problem and they would have the problem corrected shortly. Now that is customer service. Last week the building I am in rented out the next floor. One of the businesses said they were able to get SDSL service. I called Transbeam and they were happy to upgrade my service. We have been using Transbeam for over 3 years and have nothing but good things to say. We have a 768k SDSL connection and 5 voice over DSL lines with unlimited local calling. The amount of money that we save over what we were paying Verizon more than pays for the entire package including the fast DSL. They also do our emails and web hosting. The DSL is very reliable and I cannot remember the last time we had a problem. If we ever need a technician to be dispatched for a problem, they are usally here within the same day. Recently we had a major virus hit our network, and Transbeam was here within 2 hours to remove it and stablize our network. It appears that they do everything we request quickly and effeciently. I have recommended them in the past and would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of getting a DSL line. I have been with Transbeam for 1 year and am very happy with their service. My company used to have DSL service through Intercom Online, but the connection was very unreliable and their customer service was terrible. I now have a 768k SDSL connection and 4 Voice Over DSL lines which saves us a great deal of money on on monthly phone bill. Over all the connection is solid and very fast. We never have problems. If we do call the customer service department for any issues, they are very courteous and resolve our issues very quickly. I have recommended them to a few of my friends and will continue to do so in the future. A Sofer New York, NY member for 20.2 years, driveby review (so far) lodged 20.2 years ago
I signed up with Transbeam last year for DSL and am very happy. They got us up and running pretty quickly. After afew months we heard about their voice over dsl and got 6 lines from them. Since we have a car service/limo company we are always on the phone confirming pickups with the drivers and make many many calls. Transbeam phone lines let us make as many calls as we want for one flat fee. We pay them $25 per phone line and an make as many calls as we want. We save more money on our phone bill than the whole Transbeam bill combined. They also helped us with our inside wiring and provided and set up our firewall. We call Transbeam everytime we have a computer issue whether its a virus or we need to add or replace a computer. We are very happy with their service. We recommend them to all our friends. I have been using Transbeam at my 2 offices for over 6 months and they have really been great. We originally chose Transbeam after our existing DSL provider went out of business and we weren't able to get our line back up. We never heard of Transbeam before but our computer consultant recommended them saying that some of his other customers used them. They had us up in less than 10 days. We really couldn't be happier. The service never goes down, as our other provider used to. They helped us set up a VPN between our 2 offices. They also provide us with web hosting and emails at no charge. We occassionally call for technical support or to add or remove email accounts and they are very responsive, quick and friendly. I would recommend their DSL to everyone.
