$20 per month (6 month contract)

My room mates and I ordered a 20 MB/sec line and never saw speeds that high. Highest speed was around 17.3 MB/sec and usually (as in 90% of the time) speeds were under 2 MB/sec. We would call to complain and the internet would be good for about an hour and then right back down the toilet.
Speed test review from 5 minutes ago:
Download Speed: 7864 kbps (983 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1025 kbps (128.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
^^ The above is NOT what the contract said I would receive. I'm paying for a 20 MB/sec download rate and a 3 MB/sec upload rate. Worst part is they want to charge a $150 cancellation fee. Scam.
My advice is to stick with comcast, i had comcast last year in the same apartment and never had issues.

| Also getting ripped off by getwireless.net I also did the speed test (»www.speakeasy.net/speedtest), which took a few minutes to load and got the following results..
Last Result: Download Speed: 1168 kbps (146 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1687 kbps (210.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
This is about dial-up speeds. Very unsatisfied with the service I'm getting from this company.

join:2009-09-28 State College, PA | "Does it say 'up to'" No, the contract implies that I should be -getting- fast speeds. Not supposed to have a hope of almost getting something slightly worse than dial-up.
Internet didn't work at all yesterday and today speeds are even slower than usual.

Actually, it does say 'up to' a certain speed. I have had the service for almost three years, and have never had a problem

I consistently saw 20-30mb downloads on speed tests. Overall it was a good experience, better than I have had with other providers in the area.

"Good price if pings were decent"
"Terrible ping to almost everywhere, far less than advertised speeds"
"Avoid them until they fix their problems"

My experience with ISPs in State College, PA have been mixed compared to where I previously lived in north New Jersey.
I suspect Getwireless.net launched a huge marketing blitz and signed up as many people as they could. This is their first year providing residential DSL service to State College residents. Perhaps they built up too quickly. At first, they placed everyone under the same software speed restriction, creating absolutely horrid pings and download speeds.
Speeds of 7 mbps/1 mbps are advertised. During the first 3 weeks, speeds of .5 mbps/.1 mbps were experienced. Since then, it has improved. However, there is nowhere near the advertised speeds. In addition, with the exception of Google.com, the pings tend to average around 150 ms. This ping is unacceptable for anyone who wants to play games online, including any XBox Live or computer games. If you're a gamer, definitely avoid this ISP.
Overall, the price is terrific yet the service is not good. I suspect they do not have the bandwidth and peering required to service so many of their newly acquired customers.
