What a difference a few months makes.
Got an email notice saying they are going out of business within the month, and that I should arrange for another provider by March 2. That's only 5 business days notice! Apparently, service will be up for another 3 weeks, but I doubt it. Connection/service has been poor last two days. Very choppy. Can't reach anyone on the phone.
Not much to cry about, I guess, but it sure does leave me and my business in a bad pinch.
Does anyone have any ideas who to contact for the easiest switch to a stable DSL provider in the Baton Rouge, LA area.
Thanx..
Ric
Contacted Sales on Nov 3, arranged contract on 768/768 up/down service with 32 static IP's. Cost $205/month plus $200 charge for Paradyne 6342 Router and installaton. ConnectSouth completed install on Nov 27 Contact with customer service so far has been good, although on a few occasions we had to wait for a return call from a "different" tech rep. The fact that ConnectSotuh does not have NNTP server for news is a bummer. Another minor irritating point is that three days after signing a contract that included the #200 install fee, we received an unsolicated mailer from ConnectSouth offering a deal for free hardware for new accounts. Would have liked to have known about this promotion before agreeing to pay $200 for the router. (Sure would be nice to get a rebate!) DSLReports TOOLS utilities shows excellent up/down speeds and good line quality, Bottomline- we'd recommend ConnectSouth to others, and generally are very pleased with this operation.

OK - heads up - these guys are going out of business. If I didn't have the unfortunate luck of having them as my ISP, I would be glad!!
OK - first off, they sold me the service 3 weeks BEFORE they had a leased space with the CO. Second, install was WAY outside the margin they told me when I signed up (almost 2 weeks late). Third, I have had more account reps than months on their service. Lastly, they have gone down at least 6 times over the 4 months I have used them, and half the time don't know why.
Tech support is a joke - an endless spiral of automated menus...
I generally got the bandwidth, but they offered blocks of IP's that they were unable to deliver on, and now they are going out of business... I heard this second-hand, and confirmed it with a call to the main office - the website is down, I have not had an account rep for about 3 weeks, and I am now totally in a tailspin - I run a web and managed business application service on my servers for my clients. Would have been nice if someone would have called to tell their clients that they were going out of business, I thought...
Does anyone know of a DSL provider who can get an install done in less than 30 - 45 days???
