Wow, this has been a great relief signing on with DSLextreme! I use to be a Winfire Customer, and was sadly let down with their service. They had the worse customer service support I've ever experienced from a business before, leaving me on hold for over 30mins at times. DSLextreme on the other hand, never left me on hold for more than a minute. Furthermore, they have been a big help and aiding me in clearing my lines for their service and were always friendly. It feels so good to have a DSL line that is dependable and not having to log onto a company prior to going onto the internet is great. It was also wonderful to find out with the help of "Richard" in customer service/tech, that my service was actually on before the turn-on date. He helped me get out the gliches that I was experiencing because of my aol service. Furthermore, I am about 9 - 10,000 feet away from "the box", and I get d/l speeds of over 1100 kbps and u/l's around 111kbps. For that I am grateful, I d/l a lot from the internet and the speed is well appreciated. When I DSLextreme in combination with Download Accelerator Plus, my d/l speed doubles and sometimes triples....I found that I can d/l a file thats at least 8.8MB's in less than 40 secs.......so you know I'm smiling NOTE: I use Microsoft Outlook 2000 for emailing. And, I noticed that sending and receiving mail using my DSLextreme account is extremely faster than using my outlook express email system (I upgraded last month to Outlook 2000), and it also works better with my PDA. I've seen other reviews criticize the email service, but maybe it's the software they are using that's causing the problem. Thanks again for being worth the search!!!!!! :) Splendence member for 23.4 years, 129 visits, last login: 87 days ago lodged 22.9 years ago

Here's a new one. UPS kept sending the modem back to DSLExtreme because their driver knew the prior occupants of my suite had moved and he also "knew" that nobody new had moved in. Heaven forbid he should actually knock on the door! DSLExtreme willingly (and quickly) sent it out 3 times!!! And spent time on the phone with the UPS supervisor and myself in a conference call to confirm who was dropping the ball. The second two times they actually walked the package to UPS. In my opinion, DSLExtreme went way beyond my expectations. Modem finally arrived. Hooked it up. Sync was as promised. 48 hours later, all is still well; all services working as promised. member for 22.9 years, 3 visits, last login: 22.6 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago
After being a Flashcom customer for a year and a half it was almost a relief when they went belly up. If PacHell was not the telcom my experience with Dslextreme would have been perfect. As it was, we only missed the install date by three days. This was due to a problem with Pacbells lines. Richard in tech service was super responsive as well as knowledgable. Great Job! member for 22.9 years, 8 visits, last login: 22.6 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago
These guys had excellent customer service and were sensative to my needs. About a year ago, I had another DSL provider which sometimes gave me 4 digit pings. When I terminated with them, I found DSLExtreme from this very website and signed a contract with them. I had a few problem with the line that had DSL on it previously but since I had two lines in my house, I gave them a second number and they were able to get me up and running in less than three weeks. I came home the day before the scheduled date and I had a link light on my modem. One of the main reasons I went with DSLExtreme was the fact that they gave me a static IP with my service for $39/mo (I think it's $49/mo now but it's STILL a good deal). The only dissapointment is that I'm getting about a 320k downlink but that's due to the fact that I'm 21000+ feet from the CO! I'm suprised that I'm getting service at all!!! member for 22.9 years, 10 visits, last login: 22.1 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago

In Jan of 2001, when I discovered that PacBell was installing a DSLAM in my area, I was ecstatic. My current provider, Network One, had just dropped PacBell DSL service. They (& most providers in the Antelope Valley) had dropped PacBell suddenly. hmmmmm. In February, when PacBell had not 'notified' me that DSL was coming, I called them & wound up telling them where their DSLAM. They didn't know. They offered me service, but they could not meet my needs at a reasonable price. I asked what other ISP's were contracted with PacBell in my area & I hit a wall. Seems PacBell wants you to believe they are the only DSL providers. ISP's must contract with PacBell, so who else would be a good info source? Well on the 3rd call after being passes around till I was dizzy, I found someone who actually could help. I called all the ISP's given & then discovered PacBell hadn't opened the area yet. They said they could provide service, but forgot to inform contracted ISP's. hmmm. After searching for a while for an ISP that could provide PacBell/SBC service, I discovered DSL Extreme. Seems they could meet my needs - $49.95 service, Static IP (needed 2 (+$)), free install kit, 5 Mb webspace (need 75, so I'll serve from my side), Dial-up access (+$) & good reviews here on DSL Reports. I Signed up on 3/13/01, they said they'd call me. About 3/16 I called DSL Extreme to inquire & was told to wait for an install date. 3/20 a manual loop was necessary to verify service availability - 24 hr process. 3/23 I called to 'inquire', no results yet. 3 days when 24 hrs was stated? Well 3 days after the first 3, service possibility was 'confirmed'. 4/4 DSL Extreme calls to inform me of IP address delivery & instructions by email, shipping of the DSL Modem & turn on date of 4/12. Well, the modem arrived & install was a breeze. When 4/12 (day 31) came I inputted all the new IP addressing & nothing. Being a new DSL customer, I soon came to realize that the flashing ready light meant NOT. The activity light was flashing away as my computer & I talked to ourselves. I called DSL Extreme, and after they ran me through a check, it was confirmed - no sync. DSL Service wasn't complete. Now, I needed to reset all dial-up parameters & pay current Dial-up ISP bill by the 15th. 4/13 I used the referring number on the DSL Extreme WebPage to SBC for assistance. I was told there was NO DSLAM info. Huh? A trouble ticket was started by me (24-48hrs). Seems odd, a trouble ticket on initial service that hadn't been completed. Shouldn't it be un-completed initial service? Oh well. 4/16 seems my 'trouble' has been turned over to PB (?PB-SBC-AMI all one Co.) I discover on the DSL Extreme WebSite 'Free Dial-UP access' for waiting DSL Customers' (no one told me & I'd just paid my current ISP) I call SBC/AMI, No results form PB, call back later today. Suddenly SBC/AMI wouldn't talk to me. I have to go through my ISP. They're open 10-6 M-F. And every time I call them, they have to call PacBell. DSL Extreme tells me that I cannot talk to PB & must go through them, yet their Phone support & WebPage direct me to PB? Huh? When trying to upload to my WebSpace provided by DSL Extreme, I suddenly become aware that there is no FTP transfer allowed, only an old CGI interface. But no CGI customer files allowed, Oh well. I needed to create folders for my pages, only to be told 'no folders' only files. I needed to upload 130 files in 5 folders & was told to upload all files into the 1 folder. RIGHT, with a 5 file CGI pgm? Good Design. Dial-up Tech support didn't know & refered me to DSL Extreme. 1 support person said, well try this. Later another tech said - wasn't allowed. (Note to self, ask about file transfer to webspace) Well it's 4/18, tomorrow will be day 38. I've tryed the DSL Modem on the RJ11 jack on the Telco box outside my house to eliminate wiring - no sync. A PB tech &/or a manager from PB were to call me or DSL Extreme today - didn't happen, surprised?. 8pm - now no tech was assigned. Huh? I've now discovered a Local ISP with PB access, Static IP, 25Mb WebSpace, FTP, PoP, etc. - everything I need! It's Hughes.net !!!!! I really want to give DSL Extreme a chance. I understand PB is the one dragging they're feet, but I believe it DSL Extreme's job to get PB motivated, to stay on top of it. Not to call when I call them. DSL Extreme didn't return some calls to Voice mail. We seem to be stuck in the endless loop of PB-SBC-AMI-SBC-PB-AMI-SBC-etc. Yes, I'm impatient & DSLAMS are new to my area. But in my business, when we say we'll be there we will. I'm now convinced PB hires ghosts. Hughes.net answer's quickly & answered all my questions. It's $52 a month & not once did the person have to go ask someone else. They say they can have me up quickly, due to local area telco access. I'll give DSL Extreme a few more days. If they don't perform, I know where I'm going. I will post updates since I've already paid my current Dial-up ISP another month. __________________________________________________________________ 4/23 After finding out PB/SBC/ASI had dropped the ball with 3 different techs, I would like to say, we now have DSL. A ASI tech called me the day after the above posting (funny how that happened) & said he was the 2nd tech, the first had taken a week off. He was working on my problem (no DSL) & had refered it to engineering. That was Thursday. Friday I had a msg from the ASI tech saying he was going on vacation & would be turning it over to his boss. Geeez - #3. Well, Monday 4/23 (Day 42) It is working. Maybe DSLextreme pushed, maybe I was loud enough (to SBC), maybe it just happened. Don't know, but at least now - it works. Currently I'm getting 1247/118, 1186/134, 657/138 on 3 tests @ 8:45am pdt. Needless to say, I'm now happy with the DSLextreme service. (it's $57.00 because I have 2 static IP's, the std service is $49.00) YES, I WOULD NOW RECOMMEND THESE PEOPLE ! member for 22.9 years, 5 visits, last login: 22.6 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago
I ordered dsl from them on march 29, maggie called me to let me know my FOC Date(4/12) on 4/3, received email with IP configuration on 4/6, found my modem sitting outside the door on 4/7, Westell Wirespeed modem, plugged everything in, i had synch right away, put in the IP configurations, I'm up and running. I'm getting 1.2 down/110 up. member for 22.9 years, 694 visits, last login: 20.7 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago
I had read reviews here of DSL Extreme and thought them too good to be true, but I wanted to dump my cable connection ASAP and decided to try them, after UNSUCCESSFULLY trying to get service directly with PacHell. I must tell you, I've never been treated this good by customer service people in my LIFE! Most notably Richard! I was using my own Alcatel 1000 DSL modem (an older but BETTER modem than their current model), and Richard knew more about it that the Alcatel people did! He even e-mailed me a PDF of the Alcatel manual that he had taken the time to find and download from the Alcatel site for me. Then, he called ME several times to make sure all was going well, called PacBell and had them reconfigure the modem over the phone line, and called me to tell me all was done, and hung on the phone with me until I was certifiably online! When was the last time YOUR customer service people did that for you??? Sign up was easy. I even walked my check into their office (they're about 15 minutes from me) just to see what the operation was like, and was warmly greeted and taken great care of (thanks, Ari). Next day I got an e-mail from Maggie giving me my turn on date and all the info needed to configure on my end. (Don't tell anyone, but I even got online BEFORE my turn-on date!). Thanks DSL reports for doing such a great job! I wouldn't have known about DSLExtreme if I hadn't found your site, and searched for DSL IPs in my area. Count me in as one happy customer! --ken member for 23 years, 10 visits, last login: 22.6 years ago lodged 22.9 years ago
