Very easy to switch from AT&T, happened without even needing to talk to DONet, no contract AT&T is slightly cheaper I switched to be on the same backbone as my office...

I switched from AT&T to DONet because my office uses DONet as their broadband provider. I have had issues lately with AT&T's service (including IP changes happening very often), so I contacted DONet to see if they offered service in my email. We were able to schedule and complete everything through email, I never even had to call in to talk to DONet's support people. The only call I received was from a DONet technician calling me up the morning of the switch with my username and password. There is no contract, the cost is $40 per month (6Mb/608Kb). Having worked with them in the past I have to say I've never had a bad experience. member for 23.7 years, 2834 visits, last login: 119 days ago updated 15.1 years ago

--This is an ISDN review-- Was originally a DoNet dialup customer, and had a 5-star experience then. Upgraded to ISDN when no cable or DSL was available. Unlimited 128k access $34.95 a month plus line costs through Ameritech. Offers 5 email boxes, 100 MB web space, analog backup, webmail access, and proactive tech support during business hours...but no one is home evenings and weekends. Small price to pay for not having to EVER deal with a flowchart reader. Seems to be able to effectively work with Ameritech, so I may try their $59.99 aDSL package if Ameritech ever brings their RTs online in my area. Ordered DSL from DONet on 1/18/01, for two locations. One location is close enough to get 768x348 the other location is 10268 feet from the CO and will have to have 348x128. I waited for two weeks for information about the next step, installation dates, etc., but heard nothing. So I call them. Latest word from Rythms through DONet, is that Ameritech does not support ADSL in my area yet. I know Ameritech does offer their own ADSL. DONet has indicated that by the end of the week, 2/10, they may have a status about my order. I'll update, as new information becomes available. member for 23.3 years, 35 visits, last login: 21.4 years ago lodged 23.2 years ago

D'oh! Net.Rhythms pulled out of many smaller markets a few weeks ago. Perhaps D'oh! Net has taken your order but not informed you that Rhythms pulled out on them, leaving them scrambling to find another provider. I would try to find out if Rhythms is still taking new orders in your market.
Maybe your order's already been canceled with Rhythms but they are trying to run it through a different system. It could happen - unless you can see your order status live online it would be a possibility. What makes me suspicious is that they wouldn't give you a status on your order right away - sounds like they're just waiting until alternative options are exhausted before canceling it completely. Hope it works out, though!

Something doesn't make sense...quote: Latest word from Rythms through DONet, is that Ameritech does not support ADSL in my area yet. I know Ameritech does offer their own ADSL
Since when does the telco dictate what type of service you can't get from a CLEC such as Rythms ?? Or, does Rythms only do line-sharing for ADSL and Ameritech's CO is not line-share-ready ?? That may be the reason...

Which location is being denied?Your intro indicates that your in Miamisburg. I believe that the CO in the 'Burg is not wired for Rythmns yet. However, you need to press Rythmns about this, even by going to their web site and doing a search for the CO.
When I do a search from DSLR, I only get Covad and Northpoint. Nothing for Rythmns.

DoNet sux.....Hey, I just want to say that DoNet sucks. What I hate about them the most is that they have a stupid DoNet Volkswagon Beetle running around the Dayton area like a lost yellow piece of diarrhea. Anyhow, Rhythms has nothing to do with Ameritech at this point. Rhythms has it's own DSLAMS in the CO's. Ameritech has their own as well. I think they are feeding you incorrect and irrelevent info. Go with Ameritech or Covad. I suggest Earthlink or DSL.net or something like that. Here in Centerville, got business DSL.net 768/768 runs great. One day down within the last 8 months. Good luck man.

DoNet - great dialup, no residential DSLI assume you must be a business customer since DoNet told me "we don't offer DSL service to residential customers." DoNet has long had excellent dialup service and web hosting. I'm not sure why they'd really want to dive into this whole DSL mess, so I wasn't surprised when they told me they were only planning DSL at the business cost level ($100/mo).
DoNet also really pushes that they are a Rhythms provider, so if your area is not Rhythms-enabled you're out of luck. Many COs that Ameritech reports as "DSL-enabled" are not, as is the case with my CO off Springboro Pk. My office building in Miamisburg does have a Covad DSL line in one of the suites, so you may have better (but not good) luck with a Covad ISP.
