When I first heard of this ISP, I was like whoa cool that's one fast ADSL line speed for the price they are offering. The line speed I ordered was the 1500/768 with a static ip address (cable buster plan). After some bit of searching, I found out for the cheapest deal (36 USD per month + 99 dollar activation fee) needed to be prepaid and it gave me an uneasy feeling. The other alternative would have been 45 USD a month, plus 99 dollar activation fee.

I finally decided I would take the cheaper deal mainly because I want to save some money (heheh). So I go to my previous ISP and tell them that I want them to cancel my service with them, and I go onto my first attempt to sign up with Britsys. Oops.. well I guess they should have told me they PREFER to accept fax orders, well they told me polity over the phone, faxed me a copy of the contract and the stuff that needed to be filled out.

Filled out everything, faxed it back to them, and they contacted me the next day by e-mail saying they received my order and kept me updated on how it was going.

What really took forever wasn't the ISP's fault but with my local CO. They took just about forever to change my damn splitter card. After getting the card changed and receiving my equipment, I called up Britsys and asked about getting my modem all configured so I can go online but the guy on the line told me my line wasn't fully done yet so I gave it a few days up till last Friday when he decided to just setup my modem and see if I can go online and that worked.

From disconnection of my previous ISP to getting back online with Britsys, it took about 26 days. Most of the time was taken by the slow CO changing my splitter card, and the ewaitingf I was doing to see if my DSL line was really ready or not (I really think it was ready when I got the connection light, but the tech didnft want to setup my modem or something).

All in all, the equipment I got was a Cisco 678, cross-over cable, some filters; the basic DSL installation kit. I wouldn't rate this ISP that bad. I can recommend it to other people I know that like the bandwidth, otherwise I would recommend another company.

Me and my roommates' experience with Britsys themselves has been quite positive. We came to them from Earthlink DSL, and the comparison in speed and reliability has been good so far. We're getting 1.5/768 service with a static IP for only $45/month. Out switch, however, was stalled a bit by our local TelCO (BellSouth) who screwed us over big time. They essentially delayed a 2-3 week process to a 4-5 week process. Unfortunely, this could put Britsys in a bad light for a lot of people, so it's important to realize our delay was not anything Britsys would have control over and would have happened with any provider we could have chosen. Ignoring BellSouth's delays, Britsys customer service and support have been absolutely wonderful. Our sales rep was quite responsive to our questions and working with them has been great. Support responded to our request to turn the modem off routing mode to bridging mode withing 15 minutes, and did they whole process remotely. They even gave us a call when they did it to ensure everything went ok! Email is perhaps the best way to contact support. They prefer it, as it gives them time to check things and provide a complete answer, rather than leave someone on hold for 5 minutes while they check up on everything.

Britsys has been wonderful for us and a great deal. These guys are probably one of the best out there!

I get great speeds even with the lower priority. It's beautiful for gaming and working from home (the two things I mainly use it for). If you're going to get DSL, this is about as good value for money as you can get.

I got it after reading all the good DSL reports about BritSys and belive me, they're all justified. It's pretty sweet

I ordered the 1.5/768 Cable Buster packagewith static IP and my modem (Cisco 678) arrived via 2nd day Fed Ex 2 days after my line was provisioned. The install was a breeze. I called tech support and got my modem set up with my ip and then to reconfigure it to run off of a router and was rocking from then on. Speed tests show 1.2/620 which I consider damn good considering they only guarantee 50% of sync. Overall this ISP is great and I've found no faults anywhere (speed, reliability, tech support etc.)!!!

I've now had Britsys service for 2 years and I am completely satisfied. My broadband connection is always on and always fast - as well as the email servers and all the other stuff. I work with 3D datasets that can be 100MB or more, and I have no problem downloading them from work and uploading them back.

Probably the best thing about Britsys DSL is the quality of their support people. They are always there to help me, and during the installation they helped me get everything going, including setting up my own Linksys box.

Overall, I am a very happy customer and I recommend Britsys to all my friends

Over the years I have had a number of DSL/Cable services, To date I have never had a better deal and these speeds, @ $45.00 mo and a static IP (additional IP's @ $2.50 mo) I could not be happier, the first speed test of my 1.5/768 connection netted me a 1300/675K speed test, with line overhead it does not get any better than that, especially since my dialup was only netting me 24K connections on these old copper lines. Although there were a few bumps in the installation (On SBC/Worldcom side) Britsyst was outstanding on replying to my issues, calling me back with updates and following through until the matter was resolved, Matt was outstanding in customer service, being in the IT field myself, I found Matts responses honest, to the point, and not canned computer screen responses you find with many of the bigger companies. I was happy to see a Cisco router was included with the package. I am and will continue to recommend Britsys to all my clients and friends with out any hesitation. If you are in the hunt for a DSL provider with great speeds (up & down) and excellent support look no further..... here it is.

Placed an initial query and got an immidiate response, a week later my phone line was installed in my new place, I placed the order via fax and everything flew from there. My feeling was that the BritSys guys are just doing nothing except dealing with me: incredible customer support from sales and from the technical support. All was smooth, easy, and immidiate. Installing the modem was trivial, setting the static IP took 2 minutes - by the guy from their tech support over the phone. If you're looking for a great deal with static IP - this review is everything you need to decide on your next ISP. I had high expectations but they were completely exceeded.

    Highly recommended.

    Roy

Pre-sales questions were answered quickly and honestly. Beth and Kelly both were very straightforward and helpful.

The ad is correct. I got the cable-buster package. Install is $99, router is free (Cisco) contract is 12 months at $45 per month and I get a static IP address!!! I opted for a lump sum payment for 18 months for an even less costly rate ($36.11 per month).

I was shipped what I named the "Recalcitrant Router." It took the install technician and me almost 2 hours to configure it, but once we did it, it worked perfectly. (He blames it on a bug in the Cisco IOS or in the router itself.) Even though I called at the end of support hours, he still stayed after support was closed to get me hooked up. He was courteous, good natured and very helpful throughout the setup. They claim up to 1500/768 and guarantee 50% of that (actually a bit less due to TCP/IP overhead, which is normal). I synced at 1500/768!!!

Compared to my previous carrier--Verizon-- every aspect of BritSys's service is 1000% better.

I'm a very, very happy camper.

One of the worst things a customer might deal with is bad/incompetent customer service. This is NOT the case with BritSys. If you can get them, do it. It's only been a week since my order and I'm up and running without a hitch. The sales staff walked me through everything. The techie who set up my router did so in less than a minute. I didn't have to wait on hold. A phone message I left was answered in less than an hour (I called during normal business hours). All in all, a great set-up experience. I now have a home install ($99 set-up) of 1.5/768 ADSL with one static IP. I couldn't be happier. I've NATted the rest of my boxes on the home network.

BritSys was the best deal for a static IP DSL line in my area BY FAR. I still think this "low" price is too much to pay for a connection, but the market may bear that out over the next 10 years, unless the FCC swoops in and helps out their big telco pals again.
